We love the Johnson House. Good food and very reasonable pricing - I can't imagine
how anyone could consider the menu to be "pricey" as the previous reviewer did. The dining room is in the basement and is a bit dark with the paneled walls and low lights and the staircase is somewhat steep, if that is a concern. Parking is easy either on street or in the public lot across the street. The servers are very prompt, professional but easygoing, and accommodating to your order. The Johnson House may never win any "Best Restaurant" contests but it is always a very nice place to have dinner with good American food - steaks, chops, seafood, veal - prepared to order by very nice people. Recommend the Friday fish fry - best I have ever had. Scallops are wonderful - big sea scallops cooked perfectly. Prime rib is very good and generous. Lamb chops and veal are very good. I would say I have had steaks there that are just average. Only complaint I have ever had were the pork chops, very tough and overcooked. Unlike so many restaurants in this area, you will leave the Johnson House in great spirits and with your wallet still intact.
