I would certainly give Glenmere more than 5 stars if it were possible.

My wife and I just returned from 3 nights at Glenmere Mansion. This is by far one of the nicest resorts in the US. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty and perhaps that is because you are truly staying in a mansion. Words cannot describe the beauty of this place. Our room, which was a deluxe room, was truly spectacular. From the perfectly decorated and spacious room the large corner balcony overlooking the large front lawn and lake in the distance, the room exceeded any expectations that we had. We have stayed in Ritz Carlton's and this room exceeded those we have stayed in before.

The room rate includes breakfast which is a full service (not buffet) selection of food. We dined in the Frog's End Tavern (both inside and outside) as well as the main dining room which is only open Thursdays through the weekend. The food was exceptional in all regards.

The newly opened spa was a sight to behold. As a recommendation, be sure to take advantage of the Hammam water treatments. At the very least, make sure they show you the Hammam treatment room. After your spa service, you will be seated in the "library" waiting room and served light snacks and water. Everything about the spa is exceptional and first class.

The staff of Glenmere is tremendous. We especially got to know Charles the head butler. He is a great guy and made a recommendation for a local place to purchase a few cigars.

It would be hard to come up with anything negative to say about Glenmere, but if pressed, I would say the only minor complaint that I would have would be the lack of foam pillows. The room comes with feather pillows, but my wife and I are foam people. They did not have foam in housekeeping so perhaps they will add these to the lineup for us foam people.

Glenmere is about an hour by car outside of New York City. Once you cross the George Washington Bridge, the drive is very scenic and easy to make. This Texas boy was able to easily make the drive.

Room Tip: We were in Room 12 (there are only 18 rooms). The room was a "deluxe room" and was very large room with a large balcony with a table and chairs.

My husband and I stayed one night here when we needed to attend a funeral in town. Although there is a 2 night minimum weekend stay, they graciously waived that given our situation. We stayed in an elegant King bedded room over looking the courtyard. Both the bedroom and the bathroom were so gorgeous, with beautiful details throughout. I have been dreaming of redecorating ever since! The hospitality from the minute you drive in is formal, yet gracious and warm ,not pretentious. Every aspect of our stay, with the exception of the reason for our visit was perfect and we cannot wait to return to stay for the weekend and enjoy the spa. We had a wonderful dinner and an amazing breakfast. A truly special place that I look forward to visiting again.

A chance to run away for a few days in the Summer, without the vacation crowds always presents a dilemma. We are fortunate to be able to travel midweek, we skipped the Hampton's, the Jersey shore & other Mid Atlantic hot spots. A wonderful corner of New York State, welcomed us with open arms & a mansion housed us for 4 days & 3 blissful nights.

The property is beyond description & nothing can prepare you for the beauty at every turn. Every object was thoughtfully selected, the massive restoration of this historical building spared nothing. It is so rare to see taste & money combined to create a haven of hospitality. I could write pages on the property, the gardens, the pool, the spa, but again nothing will do it justice, you must experience this jewel of the Hudson Valley.

As overwhelming as the property is, it is matched by the wonderful staff. Allan, one of the owner's works with his staff, Priscilla at the front desk, Charles at the front of house & impeccable housekeeping, which allows one to relax & practice the very hard art of doing nothing. Dolce far niente is the mantra for this experience.

The only thing that could be faulted is that Allan & his team have ruined us, with these amazingly high standards, we can only return again & again. As innkeeper's with over 30 years experience, we do know a thing or two about hospitality, and this is indeed a very rare combination of luxury, comfort, unsurpassed beauty & relaxation.

Room Tip: Photos do not do justice to the property. Decide what you need, bed size, tub and or shower, balcony, price range etc. The are all primarily decorated in the same beautiful style.

This stunning place provides everything you could ask for ... And then some. The rooms are beautiful, with a steam shower we used several times! The dinner was as fine as the best "fine dining" we have ever had. Staff, including the owners made us feel not only welcome, but special. There was even a thoughtful parting gift.
I have been recommending to all my friends that they experience this special place even if only for the dinner.

Room Tip: Try to get one with the steam shower.

The owners of Glenmere Mansion located just an hour outside of New York City have captured every visual and social sensibility of the very finest hotels in Tuscany and/or the South of France. The restoration is stunning, the staff is very hospitable, and the food is exceedingly good. The two-month old spa is the finest I have seen any place in the world, with a private Turkish bath without rival. A special one night stay was an intense experience that created a memory for a lifetime. As a member of the prestigious Relais et Chateaux group, their highest rating is well deserved. This place is a great alternative for those who can't or won't fly to Europe for a very similar experience.

Room Tip: Even the least expensive rooms on the ground floor are beautifully appointed although a sweeping view of the 150 acres is lacking.
