There is no other place quite like Chautauqua Institution. From the Victorian Athenium Inn, the daily speakers, fantastic theater and concerts at night, on a beautiful pristine lake, with boats to rent, athletic center, children's camp. tennis courts and bke paths. you can"t beat it.

Spent four lovely days at Chautauqua...from the lectures, to the music, to the play, to the movies, to the overall environment...it can't be beat! Genteel, stimulating, relaxing, and a joy for the senses. Hope to make it back, and soon.

The Institution is such a unique place. I went there for a concert, but had the opportunity to explore a bit. The book store was quite nice, with a wide variety of items to choose from. I love that it is right on the lake! There are many educational events that take place here. I would love to go back and experience more of what they offer.
It seemed so strange to me that people actually LIVE there. How cool that would be!

When the weather is fair, the Amphitheater and Hall of Philosophy speakers are so enjoyable. We heard a UCC preacher, Chris Hayes, a Harvard Humanist chaplain and a Iraqi war vet turned poet all in one day. With the Youth Orchestra playing patriotic songs on Bestor Plaza that felt like a scene out of Music Man. (No gate fee on Sundays)
