We sat at the "Community Table" and always had great conversations. The food was good and we also had great conversation with the servers.

“Eat somewhere else”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013 via mobile

We have had dinner at the hotel before. Our experience has been the prices are outrageous, the food passable, and the service poor. We had read that there is a new farm to table restaurant open Friday and Saturday night. The reviews were favorable. We went. The portions were very small. My wife found her chicken difficult to eat and did finish it. The service was very poor. I needed to ask that my water glass be refilled four times. Once is inexcusable, four times can not be explained, unless there is a drought. The hotel is located on a lake! The cost of one salad, two entrees, and one dessert was $105.00. The meal was worth less that $20.00. Don't be disappointed, eat somewhere else.

“Food, what food”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013

We made a dinner reservation for 7pm for a Sunday evening. Never were we told it is ONLY Buffet on Sunday. When we arrived we ordered a glass of wine each. Waiting for a menu. After about 15 minutes the waitress came by. We were then told the buffet is over at 7:30. ALL of the food was depleted and what was left was COLD. When we complained to the waitress, she was surprised. She did report our complaint to the manager, however the manager did not respond to us, she just had the waitress tell us our wine would be comped. And we were still expected to pay $30 a person for food that was not there. We will never be back. The atmosphere was not what we were expecting. For only a few people were there and it was loud. The small tables were cramped together, poor seating arrangement.

“The salt shaker that wouldn't quit”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013 via mobile

A bunch of my foodie friends excitedly tried the new Restaurant addition to the Atheneum. Namely. Bloom a farm to table experience. First off a meal with drinks and wine is about $100 per person. So when our main dish arrived with greens that seemed like the chef got involved in conversation and didn't stop pouring salt over these veggies we called our waitress 's attention to this. When she did nothing we summoned the hostess and asked her to take them to the chef to taste. She did not. Nor we're we offered another substitute Nor were we given dessert given a drink. Nothing not even sorry. So we would never dine there again. Eater beware

“Over priced, over rated”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2013

Dinner at Blooms at the Athenaeum Hotel was extremely disappointing. One dinner was well prepared. Another dinner was almost inedible - a few mushrooms and pieces of rabbit as a sauce over pappardelle for $36. This dish was advertised on the menu as roasted rabbit. Service was spotty and there was a high noise level in the dinning room making it difficult to carry on a conversation.

We complained to the wait staff about the rabbit entrée and were provided a complimentary dessert. However, when the chef later made the rounds speaking with other diners table. Definitely not worth the price.
