Crabtree's Kittle House

Sunday afternoon rolled around and my husband and I realized we had nothing planned for the evening. We absolutely love the fall and decided to take a nice drive to Crabtree's Kittle House since our friends and family rave about it constantly. Who knew that even on a Sunday night, this beautiful restaurant would be so popular?

Among the busy night they had the hostess was friendly and seated us right away. We were seated in the warm dining room that felt so nice after having been out in the chilly fall weather. After looking over the menu, we were convinced that it was going to be a difficult task to decide what to eat!

We ordered the White Bean and Roasted Garlic Velouté with the kale and pancetta foam along with the Big Eye Tuna Sushi Pizzetta. We also ordered the Ricotta Gnudi. We cleared all of our plates. With every bite, we were both so happy and satisfied with our delicious choices. For dinner we ordered the Chicken and the Rack of Free Range Lamb. The meat was cooked perfectly and even though we were pretty full from our appetizers, we didn't leave one bite left on our plates. The flavors along with the presentation of our meal was fantastic and made the evening so special. We ordered a pecan pie and cheesecake to go. The service throughout the entire meal was excellent as well. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and so helpful with the questions we had throughout the night.

We were so thrilled we decided to make a reservation for 2 weeks later. We cannot wait to go back!

We are paying the high end rate for a "standard" small room. It's 10 pm our room faces the outside patio area. A wedding reception will continue until 11 pm. When asked about another room was told "our reservations indicate we have many events". We DID know there was a reception in the "Tap Room" for the evening when we booked a room, we did not know there was an evening event that would continue until 11-12PM.

Ok, fine. So, we'll hear noise, music, activity until 11-12pm. Our room is OK , nothing like the website pictures. Our room is small, glad it' s cool, AC is by head of bed, bathroom small, and all this for what all the other lovely rooms on the website cost. We spent $300 in the dining room, good meal & service. Would come back for food NOT lodging.

The restaurant is lovely and always has been. The bread is yummy and the service is awesome! The menu is a just not that innovative, creative or updated! Honestly, the appetizers were great but the entrees were just ok. We had red snapper which was just pretty much tasteless and a burger, which honestly is tastier at the diner down the road, with less than average fries. The biggest disappointment was that their AMAZING cheesecake is now off the menu and substituted by a not great one with chestnuts (bizarre!!!)
Please put your cheesecake back on the menu!

The inn room was crisp and clean, complimenting the delightful dinner in the Dining Room! With such an array of menus, as a late evening bite we were able to choose a lite but filling meal of Beets Carpaccio with a beautiful piece of salmon to compliment and the Potato Leek soup along with the Beet Carpaccio as well! The servers were very attentive and our dessert of a Kittle Kat and Cappuccino were a very pleasant follow-up!
Though there was not enough coffee for our taste, we were quickly satisfied with the delivery of four additional K-cups of French Roast!
Cheers!

Room Tip: A pleasant neighbor hood walk was enjoyed in the morning!

This hotel may or may not be great -- but we'll never know, thanks to the incompetence of the reservation staff. My wife and I were thrilled to snag a reservation at the Inn for the Labor Day weekend. We talked to the hotel by phone, they took our credit card information, and sent us an email confirming our spot. Then, on the Friday before the holiday, we received a call saying that, in fact, they had no rooms and offered to put us in touch with the local Holiday Inn. No apology. No explanation. Now, we're high and dry -- but, in a way, grateful. With that kind of lame service on the front end, we figured there was a good chance the rest of the place wouldn't be much better. Thanks for saving us the grief.

Slow service in restaurant. Waited 45 minutes for a lobster soup and fruit appetizer. Chicken so tough and dry that it could not be eaten. Desert was marginal. Waiter inattentive and awol. I had to ask for beverage refill. What waiter is not eager to get you another 15.00 glass of wine? 3 coarse meal took over 3 hours. Not worth the price or the hype. Will never go back.

I have been going to Crabtree's Kittle house for years as a guest for a business luncheon, a seminar or to officiate a wedding. I have recently booked a small room for a party for my son's graduation. Mr. Crabtree couldn't have been more cordial. The accommodated our party nicely and the service was great. My favorite brunch in Westchester county is right here, Sunday morning..
you can choose from almost anything on the buffet and find something you will crave later that day. The golden, sweet french toast with fresh whipped cream is one of my favorites, but you'll also find oysters, shrimp, lamb, beef, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, cheeses, quiche.. the list just goes on and on. The Kittle House is set in a residential area in an old estate home. The charm is still there.. the food and service can't be beat.
Give it a try, I promise you'll be hooked!
