We went to both places and i would give the following advice if you are only in new york for short stay and want to decide between the two. If you are shopping for children Jersey Gardens is so much better choice wise and prize wise. Overall the bargains are better in Jersey Gardens. Its a 12 mins journey vs an hour journey to Woodbury. Jersey Gardens is all indoors , Woodbury Common is all outdoors. Price wise its only $12 return to Jersey Gardens and approx $40 for Woodbury And it tends to rain alot out there!
On the whole I preferred Jersey Gardens. The bargains, promotion and even selection on sizes was better. You can get a trolley for $5 dollars and bring it around with you. Jersey is quieter too, no queues. Staff are nicer. We had one single friend with us who had no children and she felt Tommy hilfiger in Woodbury had more choice. However Tommy in Woodbury is much more expensive. Give you an example: I brought a jacket in Jersey and with my discount coupon and 60% off it was $68 dollars. Same Jacket in woodbury RRP $150 and there was 30% off and you paid tax on it so the 10% coupon only covered the tax. So the same jacket was $120. I asked the staff why the difference in price and she told me that they had more footfall and didn't need to reduce down the price!! I actually regretted paying the money to go to Woodbury this time. I did enjoy the disney outlet shop and got great deals there but the disney outlet shop is now in Jersey Gardens. The NIKE shop in Jersey is far better than Woodbury. Actually alot of the shops were far better in Jersey.

Overall i really think Woodbury compared to previous years is not offering the same value. Most of the coupons are 10% or 15% off. Compared to 25% off in Jersey. In woodbury alot of the items had no discount on it. Four of us travelled and out of the four only one would return to Woodbury. For the past 6 years we ve arranged a shopping trip every second year and this was our third time at Woodbury and Jersey.. On all three occasions we got saturated in Woodbury. Jersey Gardens is for more pleasureable to shop. Food court is far better. Journey is shorter. On this occasion we went back out to Jersey Gardens the day after woodbury and got the items we had missed far cheaper than woodbury. Enjoy your trip!

“Something for everyone”
Reviewed February 21, 2012

I don't usuallly like outlets, but this place stands out. Great name brand stores and pricing. Only draw back is the huge crowds of foreign tourists bussed in from New York City for the day. I can't blame them, as they are paying mcuh less for the same items on 5th avenue.

“Nice little shopping village..”
Reviewed February 18, 2012

This is a typical American outlet village with the common stores that you find in most outlets. I like that everything is so organized and that it¨s easy to walk around.
This was in the middle of July and a heat wave, so got very tired from the heat after a while as you have to walk outside to get from one store to another. It was easy to get there in the morning, about an hour on a bus from Penn station. Of course, going back we had to line up to wait for the bus, and since everyone seems to be done with their shopping at the same time, we did not get room in the first bus, so think we had to wait for an hour staying in the heat to save our place in the line.
I don´t think it was worth the hassle to take a whole day of our week in N.Y.C to go tho this outlet. Plenty of shops in the city, and coming from Norway everything is cheap in the US any way.

“Huge Selection”
Reviewed February 16, 2012

This is an absolutely HUGE outlet shopping center. The majority of the stores are high-end, name brand factory stores. Nice place to spend the day...if the weather is good. This is an outdoor shopping center connected by a paver/brick walking surface. Wear comfortable shoes. NO HEELS LADIES! You'll be sorry. A lot of raised/lowered pavers make walking precarious! There are lockers on site so that you don't have to lug your packages around the entire outlet center all day. Take advantage of them!

“Average outlet”
Reviewed February 15, 2012

It's fun to walk around this outlet once in awhile. In my opinion there aren't any great bargains there. If you go on a Saturday you will be swarmed with bused in tourists. If you go during the Christmas season...well I would avoid it. It's crazy busy. In fairness, I am not much of a premium outlet fan.
