“Waterview/Style/Good Food”

Jellyfish is a fabulously decorated restored historic restaurant located on Mill Pond. The menu is innovate, fun drinks and gracious staff. Truly worth the trip for a fun evening. The place is hopping on the weekends....try to be there to catch the sunset. Robin

“Horrible Service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2013

This place is very poorly run. Food isn't great, but the service is just horrible.
The staff doesn't know their menu, doesn't know how to answer questions, & when they don't know the answer, they just say sorry & don't go find out the answer.
The waiter didn't bring us bread until almost the end of the meal, (we ordered a bottle of wine & drinks, appetizers & entrees)... We had to ask for bread 6 times. when we finally got our bread the waiter said, "here's the bread you kept asking for". nevertheless, it was cold. the cheese wasn't melted & you could see they don't use fresh cheese...ick!
Our food orders were not correct, & again the waiter said sorry but didn't do anything to fix..
The manager came over to see how everything was, we told him honestly how bad the service was & that our meals were not what we ordered. he said sorry, but then left. Again, nothing was fixed... We couldn't believe it. how do you give the wrong meal to someone & then not switch it to what was really ordered?....
Don't go there unless you want to be treated badly. Way over priced for what you get.
Instead go next door to the Mill Pond, which will treat you with respect & provide a great meal.

“Great night spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2013

I went to Jellyfish on a Saturday night with a friend. They had a guitarist singing nice soft music so you can hear your conversation with your friend.
The food was good we had Tina pizza and a hot jellyfish roll also great.
The bartenders were fantastic. April and Matt. The chef came out later and spoke with us at the bar.
While we were leaving the restaurant we had a tour of the upstairs and the downstairs where they usually have a band on Saturday nights.
The only bad thing I can say about this restaurant is, as we walked in the owner was sleeping with his mouth open while the guitarist was setting up.

“This restaurant has a great future (and present)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

Ok--- Upfront.... so I need to state right away that we were already have a really super night. That said, we pulled up and a very nice gentleman in valet opened the door for my lovely date and then came to my side of the car--- a definite plus to start with. The ambience inside is very nice and just dark enough to invite a quiet romantic dinner in of of the many seating areas. There is what looked like a fantastic sushi bar along the left side as you enter the "bar" area. A really good duo of jazz musicians were adding to our otherwise great night and we chose to sit and get some apps at the bar. The bartender who doubled as our server was friendly polite and quite knowledgeable -- If he hadn't tried a dish we inquired about he freely admitted so and told us what others had thought of choices we asked about.
If there is fried jellyfish on the menu, do you really have a choice in trying it? we thought so too and ordered it. Breaded heavily and with a dipping sauce, it tasted like breading with dipping sauce. Served shoestring style, it was neither great or horrible an interesting item to say we had tried. Moving along, you have some really great tasting choices. There is bison, venison, and boar sausage with a perfectly paired spicy mustard that was really the highlight of all of the appetizers we tried. The clam chowder was as good as any I've had on the island- served hot and really very very good. The cocktails were done just right in a rather strange glass--- martinis in a margarita glass... hmm they tasted just great all the same. There are also some great dessert items to try and the presentation is really very nice. Delicious as well. Good music, great service and a friendly staff make this an evening you are sure to enjoy. I'm sure it will only get better as the restaurant ages a bit. At our sitting, Jellyfish had only been open a few weeks... Seemed to me that the bugs were pretty ironed out. Well done!

“Well worth the trip!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2013

Jellyfish is right next door to the Thatched Cottage on Route 25a in Centerport. It is a trip from almost anywhere, but it is worth the drive. This restaurant has a decent bar, serves great seafood and is very accommodating. We had succulent lobster tails and a great tuna entree following a wonderful crab cake and delightful california roll sushi appetizers. The service is great, and the management seems very involved in making everything right. The atmosphere is very relaxing early in the evening as you are lake side, and once the sun is down the lights are lowered to create a more intimate atmosphere. Plus, the live music (we were there on a Thursday evening) is an added touch. I suggest calling ahead for reservations as it is a bit off the beaten path, and you would not want to be turned away.
