“Great inn / great food - located in Central New York Finger Lake region .”

We've stayed 4 times in The Brewster Inn in Cazenovia, NY. A charming, art-sy town. Just returned from 2 days there. Well located - 1 1/2 hrs east to Cooperstown (Baseball Hall of Fame/ Fenimore Cooper Museum), 30 min. west to Skaneateles -another lovely old town along the Finger Lakes. The carriage house is comfy, and quiet (especially the rooms in the rear, away from the route 20 traffic). The main house is a BIG, brown-shingled former summer home built in the 20's(?). The property goes down to the lake. If you like yester-year charm, history, and don't mind just a teensy-bit of worn ambience, you will enjoy this inn. Rooms and bathrooms are very clean and spacious.

Breakfast is included and consists of a selection of hot drinks, cold cereals, inn-made fruit bread, fruits, breads, juice, cheeses and cold sausage cold cuts, etc. The dinners ARE NOT TO BE MISSED! Many locals, so reservations are good. My husband enjoyed the scallops so much, he had them both nights. Seafood is wonderful. Wines AA++!

The Brewster Inn is such a diamond in the rough. The setting is spectacular - but the Inn is in bad condition and bare bones and is way over priced. The food is really good but the rooms are awful (seedy, uncomfortable bed, no amenities) and the staff is a mixed bag - mostly nice but one was awful. Cannot recommend this place unless they clean up their act - literally and figuratively. Go for dinner instead.

My husband & I stayed for a one night "Get away " during our vacation . The suite of rooms were wonderful , with an awesome view of the lake , but the amenities that we are used to such as , bars of soap & lotion, writing paper , phone directory , coffee pot , etc.. , were missing . And when we called down for ice , it was brought up to us in a plastic bag instead of an ice bucket . We just thought that for the most exspensive room at the Inn , we would have had a little more of the standard amenities for our money . The staff were very helpful and friendly , and the food was SUPERB .

Over the Easter 2010 weekend, my family and I stayed at the Brewster Inn. We were in Cazenovia to visit my son who attends the local college. Based on some of the other reviews we did not expect much, BUT THESE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ARE ALL WRONG. What we found were a very polite front desk staff, clean well appointed rooms, a bar and restaurant that was first class and an overall pleasant place to stay in the heart of Cazenovia yet a short driving distance to Syracuse. Right on Cazenovia Lake the views were beautiful and there was plenty of space for the kids to play Frisbee, for my daughter to sit with her feet in the lake and for my wife and I to enjoy a glass of wine while watching the sun set.

If you ever need to stay in Cazenovia or Syracuse check out the Brewster Inn.

The staff and setting were so pleasant and accommodating that we extended our stay from two to three nights. The Inn is at the south end of the lake and the view can be enjoyed from both inside at the tavern and by walking on the grounds. The building is impressive. One does not notice any traffic noise. The quaint town of Cazenovia is just a couple of blocks away. There are nice restaurants in town and the Inn restaurant is superb.

My wife and I go to the Brewster often and we have a wonderful time whenever we go. The owners are great, the wine list is to die for and the food is the best around. The rooms are charming and we have always had a great nights sleep. If you ever travel to Central New York the Brewster is a must see. The whole town has so much to offer.

We were looking for a memorable place to spend our 39th Anniversary. We found the Brewster Inn on the internet and hesitated booking because of some bad reviews, but it looked nice so we took a chance. It was wonderful! We sat by the fire in the lobby of the amazingly beautiful Brewster House and chatted with some of the desk staff including the owner. In the snowy weather it was so cozy and the staff friendly. We stayed in the Carriage House which is a short distance from the main House and it too was wonderful.
We skied the next day at Toggenburg where we were able to purchase lift tickets for only $25 each with our room confirmation. We stayed in a different room across the hall that night so we could use the hot tub and the chamber maids made sure all of our luggage was moved to the room when we got back from skiing.
In the evening we had a lovely anniversary dinner by the fireplace at the Inn. The chef even wrote "Happy Anniversary" on our delicious dessert. That was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed the warm and friendly atmosphere at the Inn for the continental breakfast, which was included in room rate. Everything was just perfect.
The Brewster Inn is truly a jewel on the lake in a small lovely little town.
