Hello I am a Cazenovia College Grad and my wife and I just spent a week at the Brewster. It was very nice for $ 150.00 a night. This also included a Continetal breakfast. The Inn is in a great location right on the Lake. We stayed in room 10 and # 7. I would choose number 7 over all rooms. It has it's own private Deck and has a beautiful view and furnishings. The Inn itself needs some work. Needs a overhall. The only thing we had a problem was when we cheked out. We were not charged right. They were about $ 300.00 off in their favor. No problem. I paid them. The realproblem I for see is they don't have any printed receipts . It is all done by hand. That is where their real probelm is. They need to have a T1 connection so If a client needs a computer printout it is ready for them. This can be a real problem if you are in need of this or on a business trip.

My wife and I stayed here for one night in July, 2006. The Brewster Inn is the former summer home of Benjamin B. Brewster who was one of the founders of the Standard Oil Company along with John D. Rockefeller. It is situated on the southern end of Lake Cazenovia with an unobstructed view of the lake. The best part of staying here was our dinner. It was very good and nicely served. There are three dining venues, a more formal dining room with white tablecloths, bare tables in the adjoining bar and ordinary metal tables on an outside patio all with views of the lake. Most people sat on the outside patio, which had a nice crowd for a Tuesday night. The formal dining room where we ate was hardly occupied as was the bar dining area.

The Inn itself is a large dark brown wooden structure which could be made more attractive by painting it a different color. The grounds were basically a lawn and trees, with little in the way of attractive flowers and shrubs. The interior was very ordinary and uninspiring. They could do a lot by upgrading the decor with antiques. Unlike most inns with a web site they did not show pictures of each room (with good reason), providing instead just a basic description such as the one for our room "Room 3, 2nd Floor, Queen Bed/Deluxe shower". Our room was very basic. Almost no effort went into the furnishings. Our delux Swedish-style shower had two overhead showerheads (only one worked properly) and two body jets, one of which produced no water at all and the other just a dribble. The TV was a 1980's vintage 21" model with a very serious electrical interference problem. The TV was in a cabinet, which was positioned in such a way that the cabinet door blocked part of the screen while viewing the TV from the bed. The window air conditioner worked well but was very noisy. The complimentary continental breakfast was good but typical. To us it seems that management views their main business as a restaurant and their lodging as an afterthought.

We looked at the rooms in the Lincklaen Inn in the center of Cazenovia and thought they were more attractive as was their dining room. According to the local shopkeepers the Lincklaen has as good if not better food than the Brewster Inn. Cazenovia College is just a block away from the Lincklaen Inn and has an attractive campus. If we ever go back to Cazenovia we will try the Lincklaen Inn.
