“The falls are amazing.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

This was my second visit to Letchworth. There are three large falls and several smaller ones at the park and the trail to see all of them is roughly 7 Miles. If your up for it it will knock your socks off. Its gorgeous. The upper falls is the largest and its under a railroad trestle and occasionally a train will come by. Its a sight. There is food to purchase, several bathroom facilities and parking is very convenient. The entrance fee is under $10 per car and worth it. Recommended.

“Northeast U.S.'s Best-Kept Outdoors Secret”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2013

You've been to Niagara Falls. You've looked at them from the American side and the Canadian side. You've swallowed hard and paid lots of money for tourist attractions there. You've been impressed, especially with the parkland on the Canadian side, and yet -- there's something too urban, too cosmopolitan, too out-of-touch with nature as soon as you step back from the brink of the overlook viewing areas.

Your solution is Letchworth State Park. Home to amazing waterfalls on the Genesee River -- some 600 feet -- the river also cuts a gorge many miles long as it travels north from its source in Pennsylvania past a grade-level intersection with the Erie Canal near I-90, through downtown Rochester, and on into Lake Ontario at a beach north of Rochester. At Letchworth, a 19th-Century industrial built "Glen Iris," a home now the signature inn of the park at the overlook to the best waterfalls.

The park is 11 miles long, running generally north to south along the northbound flow of the Genesee. Many hiking trails are available, along with rafting in rapids, and (they say) even hot-air balloon rides. The Glen Iris Inn is an elegant stopping place with outdoor and indoor dining, a fine menu (and not-inexpensive prices), and rooms to let in the Inn and several other structures. Cabins, picnic areas, and many overlooks of the Genesee gorge are the attractions of this well-maintained and friendly park. They don't call it the "Grand Canyon of the East" for nothing.

Visit Niagara once or twice. But keep coming back to Letchworth.

“Beautiful park”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2013

Great family camping. The waterfalls are beautiful, landscape is great, very clean park at a fantastic price. The rec centre keeps the kids busy, combined with a huge pool for $1, and finally a camp fire on a mature treed lot, makes for a great sleep. For the Canadians reading this, the park reminded me of camping in Algonquin park. The bathrooms and showers are a little old, but what can you expect camping. You will have to drive to the waterfalls and the pool. The park is 17 miles long, surrounded by very small towns. Do you shopping before hand. There is a grocery store in Perry is pretty good. My family and I would go again.

“Beautiful park, not to be missed!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2013

Definitely worth the drive to see this park. Incredible views, trails to hike, lots of nature to observe, a lovely inn to visit, lots of places to stop and take in the views. The admission price of $8 per car is definitely worth it, and it will take you a better part of a day just to drive the road and stop at the scenic areas, and walk the trails to them.
Definitely could spend a weekend there,

“Beautiful Vistas, Horrible bathrooms”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2013

We spent 3 days camping at Letchworth. The gorges, falls, and natural scenery are very beautiful. Other than that, there is littler to do. The pool is overpriced and absolutely disgusting. The campground bathrooms are absolutely filthy. My teenage son wanted to use the woods rather than an actual toilet because they were so gross. Bugs, hair, dirt, etc. all sat untouched for days. Another problem was the noise. It says "quiet hours are strictly enforced" when you pull into the campground. Well one campsite had small children up until midnight screaming and whining -probably because they were exhausted. Another site had about 15 college kids partying until 3:00 a.m. An elderly camper had to come to their site and tell them to quiet down. This is good for a day trip but I would never camp here again.
