My first visit to Passione Della Cucina was a pleasant surprise. Stopping in for lunch with 3 friends, nearly all of the dishes we ordered received pretty good reviews. Salmon Tower was delicious, the 2 chicken dishes were cooked to perfection with great sauces, and the sides of pasta were al dente, i.e., perfect! Complimentary slices of pizza added a nice friendly touch, and the wait staff was courteous and profesisonal. The two glasses of red wine we ordered were excellent, and it was easy to tell that both bottles (a merlot and a chianti) were just opened and not left standing as many restaurants are wont to do. (Nothing worse can spoil a meal than getting a glass of wine that's started to turn)
If I had any complaint, it was the chopped salad, which was obviously prepared too far in advance of being served. It just wasn't fresh, had a limpy taste and we figured it was either leftover from the night before or else prepared far too early in the day and then left without refrigeration to just go limp. Any salad needs to be presented with a freshness and crispness - this one expired a few hours earlier. The vinaigrette dressing was also too creamy and heavy.
Regardless, we will not let one limp salad ruin the review of a very nice restaurant. Passione Della Cucina has a lot of promise and we hope more people will find a very nice meal here. It does deserve your patronage and we gave it a big Bravo!
