“Wedding weekend”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

We spent the weekend here for a wedding. The wedding- outdoors by the lake & reception were flawless. As were all the other little details that kept the weekend going. The food was good. My biggest complaint was that the room was VERY small, though it was comfortable. The setting & views were amazing.

Room Tip: We had a handicapped accessible room. It was VERY small- the bathroom was wheelchair accessible, bu...

You can't beat the lakefront rooms, however, if you go in June like we did, this is when they do their landscaping, and everything smelled like manure! Luckily they have a lot of seating available right at the water's edge, away from the landscaped areas. Also, small birds like to nest right above the room patios, which is not pleasant. We were disappointed that there are no lakefront rooms that are handicapped-accessible, but the staff was very accommodating to change our room from handicapped to lakefront after our first night. The bedding and seating in the room was excellent, as was the bathroom and shower spray.

We live about an hour and a half away from here and decided on a weekend getaway. We book a suite that was not facing the lake-but had a canal view that was nice watching the boats go by. The room was dated and the furniture a bit worn-it was spacious, clean and very comfortable. You may not want to stay in the lakefront rooms on the weekend because of the outside bar at one end plus the large reception tent that was filled with parties and music- if you are a light sleeper. The staff was friendly and helpful. Plus the onsite restaurant serves a breakfast buffet that is remarkable. Plus they are pet friendly.

My husband stayed here for one night while we were in town for a Tim McGraw concert. We drove from Falmouth Massachusetts and found this to be so easy to find off of Interstate 90. Reception was quick and friendly and did not hesitate to mention the steps they took in preparing our room to our special requests for allergy free bedding. (You should be aware this is a pet friendly hotel!). Our room did not have any residual smell of previous pet inhabitants. Room, and especially bathroom, was small but clean and the bed was very comfortable. For the price, we would have appreciated, drinking glasses and coffee mugs and complimentary water bottles instead of paper cups for the in-room coffee. I should mention that complimentary coffee and tea were available in the reception lobby area. We did not use the pools or exercise room as we were just here for 1 day but we did check them out and they were clean and well equipped. We had breakfast in the dining area on the patio outside the lovely dining room. We were offered an abundant buffet style breakfast as well as menu choices. The Eggs Benedict made with crabcakes were delicious and different! The cornedbeef hash was good but a bit greasy. Portions were very generous! And the waitress were friendly and efficient. The best part of breakfast was sitting outside in the sunshine with little birds singing around us with a lovely view of the lake before us! What a glorious way to celebrate our second wedding anniversary (not to mention the Tim McGraw concert!). Along the lake edge there is a long row of clustered Adirondack chairs in which you can enjoy a beer, a drink, or a glass of wine while you watch the boats or stargaze. Or in the sunshine, you could relax reading a book or chatting with friends! You can also rent pontoon boats, other motorized boats, and even floats for tubing nearby! We had fun here. Usually we stay in Marriott Hotels and are accustomed to a higher level of comfort and service and amenities, but considering the other offering in this small town my husband and I felt well got a pretty good value at this older inn.

Room Tip: Most lake view rooms also front on the outdoor pool.

Stayed at The Inn on the Lake for a business meeting in early June. The hotel is tired and in need of some big upgrades. Room are very old school Holiday Inn, carpets dirty and dingy, bathrooms need upgrades, etc. Location is great and the lake is gorgeous. Fun bar down by the water. Restaurant was nice outside and food it pretty good. The outdoor pool is a joke. If you are looking for a very laid back hotel on the lake it's a good choice. If you are looking for a resort with a nice outdoor pool for the family look elsewhere. I would not come here on my own or with my family.

Room Tip: Ask for lakefront. My room looked at the parking lot.

As others have written, this old property (so old that bathroom vent fans weren't installed) is dated in look and in function. We booked here after not being able to get another guaranteed lakefront room for this particular weekend, Memorial Day. Not worth it! I booked this room nearly a year ago and talked to them at least twice to ascertain that we were in fact getting the lakeside facing king bed room that was the reason for traveling to that area. Upon entering our assigned room I looked outside the room's back door immediately and saw that not only was it not directly facing the lake as I had been told, but that we were behind an outdoor fenced pool and some large shrubs. They told me upon checkin that they had several weddings there that night and that they were almost sold out so I didn't bother to ask to be switched. The next morning after coffee, I went outside again to the little patio that we had and noticed that the rooms with a truly unobstructed view (from where their website pictures were taken) were what I was thinking we should be getting, especially since I booked it so long ago and was adament about what I wanted and was assured I'd get. Also, their one elevator (retrofitted beside a partial staircase) wasn't operational that weekend either. Also, the one computer in the lobby is a standing one. I tried to print Google directions to get back with and the printer didn't even work. My husband asked the staff to look up and print the directions he wanted and was handed a Mapquest page which we followed to the letter and it brought us around in a huge loop right back to the town where we started out. Needless to say, we were furious about that carelessnesess and the condtion of the property (including such things as old, ugly yellow fabric lampshades in our guest room, industrial type carpet, run down looking upholstered chairs and rust on the outside window sill and under the balcony above us. For over $200 per night, there is no excuse for this kind of condition. For that price things should be pretty close to perfect. I also had trouble with the dirty t.v. remote during the night and had to have maintenance switch it out for another. The next night we paid one third of that price (separate review) and for that got a larger, nicer room and a gourmet breakfast. Note: hubby was told upon checkout to "put his comments in writing to the owner," so here they are!

Room Tip: Avoid booking here altogether.

We went hoping for a quick, quiet getaway at a nice place... We were pretty disappointed. The room was outdated and in poor condition. It looked like some renovations had done, but the quality of work was extremely poor. There were small kids screaming and racing up and down our hall with no adult supervision or staff intervention. We could hear lots of noise from rooms above us and next to us, even late at night. We've stayed at worse places, but we weren't expecting these conditions when paying almost $200/night.
