We stayed for just one night. What a shame. We could have stayed forever. In 24 hours I have never felt so relaxed. The owner made us feel welcome from the very beginning. We decided to have dinner at the B&B. It was outstanding. It was only overcome by the beautiful breakfast. Next time we visit, and we will, we will stay for a longer visit. The countryside was beautiful and we will bring out tennis gear. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Room Tip: The suite will be our next choice, but the Rose Room was quite nice.

A beautiful stone inn in a scenic, peaceful setting in the Finger Lakes region. John & Julie Sullivan are warm and welcoming hosts. The rooms are unique and inviting, decorated with many antiques and hard wood floors. Our room had a balcony and a fireplace. The breakfasts were generous and delicious, with a great fruit platter, fresh squeezed juice, muffins, and a nice selection of hot, freshly made breakfast entrees. The dinner that John prepares is excellent in many ways including the food quality, the taste, the portions, the service and the setting. We had a memorable time with wonderful friends.

Room Tip: The Rose Suite was very nice.

Sept 2012 we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary with the gourmet "Innkeeper Dinner". Each course was more amazing than the last. John Sullivan's attention to detail was un- matched. We had lamb chops and salmon cooked to perfection. Very much worth it, best meal of our entire vacation. We were seated in a private alcove of of Inn, soft music, candlelight, antique china and silver. Attentive but not overbearing service. Elegant dining at its finest.

In July 2012 we celebrated our 28th Wedding Anniversary at the Morgan Samuels Inn. This was our 2nd. stay here as we celebrated our 27th here as well. We stayed in the Morgan Samuels Suite which we love. We love the private dining room which comes with the room. This time we had the gourmet dinner (also in the private dining room). That was a real treat!
John & Julie did a super job with everything. We enjoy sitting at different places on the grounds enjoying a glass of wine and just taking it all in. Thanks John & Julie for another great
getaway! They are fabulous people and we look forward to another stay.

Room Tip: If you can book the Morgan Samuels Suite

If you are looking for a secluded Inn away from the hustle and bustle of main street, this is a treat. John and Julie Sullivan are wonderful hosts. The Inn is situated 1000' off Smith Road, a quiet country road that is just a mile from Routes 5 and 20. It's a 5 minute drive to downtown Canandaigua and the lake. The Inn is an English country house with beautiful gardens. John, although not formerly trained as a chef, is a marvelous cook. The beef tenderloin dinner was fantastic. Breakfasts are worth the price of admission. We sat outside with a bottle of wine overlooking the 40+ acres of fields for a few hours one afternoon listening to the breeze blow through the mature maples and chestnut trees that populate the property. If you are headed out to the Finger Lakes Wine country for a vacation, this is a must stay. We will be back.

After navigating the busy town of Canandaigua for our lakefront lunch, we were relieved to enter the long, tree-lined driveway leading to peaceful Morgan Samuels Inn. Our brief refreshing stay in the first week of August 2012 felt like we had been transported to an English country manor. The grounds have many relaxing nooks and seating areas among flowers and trees.
The main floor areas of the Inn are eclectic and comfortable. Our favorite was the private Tea Room where fresh, high quality meals were prepared and served by John Sullivan, the innkeeper. (The lamb was the best that I have ever eaten, even better than was served in Wales, a country well-known for its lamb.) The challenge for each meal was trying to keep up with the generous portions !
Our room was comfortable, with the only downside being the strong fireplace odor. We had one special request which was well-met. It is clear that John loves the Inn and enjoys his role as host and gourmet chef. Thank you for a lovely visit.
