“A little hideaway gem in the Finger Lakes district.”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

Our family returned to stay at this lovely gem of an inn for the second time across a three year period. We like to ski at Bristol Mountain and this bed and breakfast is very close to the hill. It is also near Canadaigua in upstate New York, and there are some fun places to eat in this town. Sheryl will put on a delicious breakfast that is elegantly presented with stemware, linens and fine china...candelight at breakfast can't be beat! Her creme brulee french toast is spectacular. This is a place for adults and very well behaved older children- while it is a bed and breakfast it should also be honoured as an oasis away from la vie moderne...there are fireplaces and cosy places to curl up and read. We have always enjoyed the hot tub in the little sanctuary garden, some fine wine, and beautiful views of the mountain apres ski. The only drawback is that you need to drive to get to a place for dinner, but this is hardly a hardship. I would return here across the seasons to experience the beauty of the area from a different perspective...this is wine country and one gets the feel that a driving trip around the finger lakes would be an ideal way to spend a week. A perfect place to perch for a day or two or more if this is your sort of respite.

We stayed in the Hotchkiss Room which is the only room downstairs. Everything was impeccably clean. The bathroom was luxurious - whirlpool tub, awesome toiletries, very soft towels. And of course our room was lovely, and also has a gas fireplace. An impressive partial canopy queen bed, a loveseat and beautiful antique furniture. The decor of the inn is a perfect mix of modern comfort with antique style. Our room led out to a lovely patio which had an beautiful view of the snow covered trees and also directly lead to the hot tub!

Sheryl, the innkeeper, is a really sweet woman who is great to talk to. She makes sure her guests are always taken care of. We'd settled in for the night when realizing, but of course Sheryl had toothbrushes and paste, among other necessary toiletries.

The hot tub was really awesome, also very clean, and easy to access. We really enjoyed our time spent in the tub! Such a luxury.

Breakfast is served at 9:00am. The first day we were served coffee, tea, juice, fresh fruit, sausage, and keish. The second morning we had eggs, and english muffin with ham and cheese. Everything was beautifully arranged and the meals were tasty. Also there is always plenty of snacks, sodas, etc available in case your hungry at other times.

I was a little nervous about staying at a B&B, I thought it could be uncomfortable staying in a strange home with strangers, but it was lovely. Sheryl does everything she can to help you feel comfortable and at home. I so enjoyed our stay that I hope to make the Acorn Inn a tradition.

K & R,

It was such a pleasant surprise when your last minute reservation worked out for both of us. Then to have you stay an extra day was such a great compliment. Now, your review... I couldn't be more tickled. I was looking for the photo of the lawn duck. :) Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Hope to see you again.

As a Birthday gift for my boyfriend, I searched for a relaxing weekend getaway close to home. We live in Buffalo, New York but take day trips to the finger lakes region as often as we can. This B&B proved to be spectacular in every aspect. Although Sheryl wasn't waiting to personally greet us as we scheduled a late arrival. We were conveniently given a code to access a key box and a descriptive welcome letter which felt just as warm as a personal greeting. We were just so excited to begin our relaxing weekend and immediately signed up for a soak in the jacuzzi under the stars. Once we settled in to our room we didn't even want to leave. We couldn't believe our eyes upon entering the room. It was very welcoming with the luscious bedding, chandaliers for overhead lighting, a gas fireplace and leather couches. The bathroom was very large with separate tub and shower. We relaxed for a bit before exploring the common areas and then the jacuzzi. Beverages including hot tea and quick snacks were available anytime during our stay. We used the jacuzzi late night in private. We enjoyed a very restful night. We were welcomed by Sheryl and the other guests of the Inn for breakfast in the morning. We all sat down at 9am to the beautifully set table and shared good conversation with the other guests. The breakfasts [both days] were just perfectly displayed and most delicious to the taste buds. Each morning was a different treat. Our day then began on the wine trail and then a play at Geva Theatre in Rochester. Much to do around the area. We enjoyed everything about the trip. Can't wait to find time to come back!

Room Tip: Spacious Bristol Suite offers luxury and relaxation. There is a little street noise if you focus on...

My husband and I had the chance for a long weekend getaway and discovered this inn while researching our options. With the incredibly high rating, we felt it was a safe bet. We booked The Barn Suite and as we pulled in among the falling leaves of late autumn, we marveled at the lovely inn and property, knowing that the innkeeper must dedicate a great deal of attention and care to the property. The Innkeeper, Sheryl, warmly greeted us, quickly attended to details that would ensure an enjoyable visit and gave a tour - even offered to help us get settled. The warmth of not only Sheryl, but of the beautiful furnishings and lovely landscaping let us know we were in for a wonderful weekend. From the gas fireplace that kept us cozy, the private patio, the well provisioned kitchenette and bathroom and sumptuous linens and bedding, we had nothing to do but sit back and relax. We enjoyed the dvd/cd player and there was a library of dvds to choose from. We enjoyed a relaxing soak in the hot tub that is available for use with a reservation list - ensuring your privacy. The grounds were landscaped and although lovely, we would love to see them in the spring and summer when it's all in bloom. Sheryl's breakfasts were incredible - carefully selected and delicious - from the moment you sat down at the lovely laid table, it was a delight to enjoy each bite while sharing interests and adventures with fellow guests. I've never stayed with a more accomodating innkeeper and the attention to detail was amazing. The inn is perfectly located near the many wineries of the Finger Lakes, shopping, the New York Culinary Center and many other options for recreation. Again, there are readily available maps and brochures and Sheryl was a great resource, for finding perfect restaurants for your particular tastes as well. Do yourself a favor and book a visit to The 1795 Acorn Inn - you won't be disappointed. We will be returning!

Room Tip: Each room was lovey and unique - making it a VERY difficult choice!

My fiancé and I have never stayed at a bed and breakfast before. The 1795 Acorn Inn was an exceptional experience. The warm, cozy bedrooms and living area were phenomenal. We got to utilize the hot tub at night in private. The breakfast the next morning was delicious. Thank you Sheryl for a great first time B & B experience!!

My wife and I had a terrific vacation in the Finger Lakes area in early October 2012. Our two night stay at the 1795 Acorn Inn was wonderful. The Inn is a very well decorated and beautifully restored home. The location was perfect for our visits to Bristol Mountain, Naples Fall Grape Pie Festival, and Sonnenberg Gardens in Canandaigua. Outside the Inn was a meticulously maintained and beautiful courtyard. Sheryl, the Inn's owner was a gracious host and assisted us with selecting various attractions in the area. The gourmet breakfasts prepared by Sheryl were first class. We could see why the Inn was awarded prestigious AAA Four Diamond Awards for 16 consecutive years. We would definitely stay again in a future getaway. Bob & Irma Wynne

In the midst of lengthy travels we knew we needed a one night stopover to rest and be pampered. We chose the right place! Our warm, comfortable room with every amenity provided exactly what we sought. What a great sleep!

Beautifully and sensitively decorated, the living room, dining room, and outdoor areas offered character and comfort. Obviously well loved, this historical property wraps it's arms around you.

A short distance from the lake, we enjoyed the brief drive across country roads to reach the western lake shore, glimpse the historic town, walk around Lake Canandaigua's edges topping it off with a very good dinner at Nolans overlooking the lake.

Our yummy breakfast bulked us up for another long drive which ended happily thanks in part to this delightful property. We wold definitely return.
