1840 Inn on the Main Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #2 of 15 Canandaigua B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed January 1, 2012

We were looking for a nice place to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. We definitely found it! Guy and Jaynee think of every little detail and have created an absolutely wonderful restoration of an 1840 Victorian. We arrived to find this beautiful bed and breakfast decorated for Christmas. We stayed two nights in the Burrell Suite. We took advantage of a couples massage right in the room upon our arrival. We also did the winery tour package. It was great to have a knowledgable driver since it was our first time to the area and we had a limited amount of time. It was nice to let Guy and Jaynee take care of all of the details and just let us know when to be where. The Jacuzzi tub and fireplace were an excellent way to unwind from a busy day touring the wineries. Breakfast was amazing both mornings. We can't wait to make it back!

Room Tip: The Gifford and Burrell suites have a fireplace and jacuzzi.

This was our first trip to Canandaigua. The outside of Inn on the Main was breathtakingly beautiful, but hardly compared to the inside! In the midst of Christmas decorating, the Inn was coming alive with the season! Guy and Jaynee were nothing but pleasant and helpful in making recommendaitons of sites to see. The servcie was spectacular. As we were the only guests on this particular evening, we were given a choice of the room to stay. We chose the Gifford Room. Beautifully decorated and quiet, we decided not to venture out on the town that evening, as it was so relaxing sitting in front of the fire! My only regret is that we stayed for only one night! I won't make that mistake again!

We enjoyed everything about our stay at this beautiful home in the Finger Lakes. Especially nice was meeting the other guests in the morning over a delicious gourmet breakfast. The owners were friendly and made us feel welcome. The room was pretty, with a large jacuzzi tub and fireplace for ambiance. It was a very nice stay. Sherry and Brian

We stayed in the Gifford Room, which was painstakingly restored, but also included a fireplace, and jacuzzi...very romantic. The whole house was beautifully restored, and inviting. The breakfast was way past any expectations we had...it was delicious, and served in the most elegant fashion. The only draw back was that there was no thermostat in the room, and we roasted most of the night until we opened the windows/storm window for some air. Other than that, it was very enjoyable...exceeding all our expectations. Thank you Guy and Jaynee!

Room Tip: The Gifford Room was beautiful...only downside, faces Main Street...a little noisy with traffic.

The Innkeepers were superb. They were always available yet never intruding. Everything we could possibly need was made available to us. Everything was so clean! The bed was so comfortable! We needed a day away from the "outside world" and the 1840 Inn on the Main provided that to us with grace and style.

This review is long overdue. My Fiance and I stayed at the Inn in early spring for his birthday. We could not have been more impressed!! Guy and Jaynee could not have been more accommodating. They met us at the door when we arrived, packed us an adorable (and necessary) basket lunch for our wine tour, and gave us dinner recommendations. We spend a wonderful night in one of the rooms with an in-suite jacuzzi and fireplace; what more could you ask for? (We may have snuck down a few times to grab some more Oreo truffles!) In the morning they prepared us a delicious gourmet breakfast. We could not have been more impressed with their dedication to all the little details that really made our stay wonderful. Highly recommended!

My husband, son and I stayed at the Inn last May and found it to be a lovely, comfortable lodging. The Inn is located on Main Street, and downtown is an easy walk if you are so inclined. The Granger Homestead and Sonnenburg Gardens are also close by. The innkeepers could not have been nicer or more hospitable. It was a delightful stay!
