The Granger Homestead dates back to the late 1800's but is beautifully preserved. Fortunately, much of the furniture has been recovered and about 50% is original to the house. The tour guide was outstanding, however, there was an afternoon wedding on the Saturday we visited which unfortunately interfered with out tour. Ask the clerk in the bookstore if a wedding is planned during your tour to give you the option to come back when you can see all the rooms of the Mansion. The Carriage Houses are as much of interest as the house itself, so don't miss the turn-of-the-century carriages and sleighs. Some are exquisite.

The homestead is wonderfully kept and during the holidays, they have Christmas trees, etc in every room to look at and bid on. Also, their Christkindel market is well worth the trip.

We loved touring the homestead and our tour guide was excellent. She loved her work and she was very enthusiastic! This was an excellent tour! The homestead and the carriages were great.

A great day trip to visit an extremely well preserved historical landmark dating back to 1816. The Grangers had ties to many famous Americans, and a flair for decorating the stately home with crystal from Ireland, porcelain from France, marble from Vermont, and so on. The guided tour was fun and well worth the modest entrance fee. The carriage house is a stand-out, as it houses many different types/styles; along with sleighs and tack. I toured with my daughters, 14 and 17, and they really enjoyed it, too. Wonderful glimpse into how people lived, from period clothing to chamber pots!
