As I first walked in I could smell a stale smell then I opened the second glass door I inhaled cigarette smoke. I made a comment about the smell of smoke and a man came out from a little room off to the side and gave me a dirty look. We had a room on the second floor so as we were going up the stairs I noticed a lot of dried mud on the steps. We got to the top floor and could smell stronger smell of cigarette smoke. When we first walked in the room I was happy to see the room looked clean and an average size. The bedspreads were dated, but that did not bother me, but what did bother me was when I went in the bathroom and closed the door I had a view of a towel that was left from another tenant. At further observation there was a little pile of hair and dirt and lent behind the door. It was very obvious the room was not cleaned properly. Later I turned on a light and discovered there were cobwebs inside. I began to take a better look at things and found the curtains had stains on them and there were a couple of curtain hooks missing. The room had an old TV, but it worked. We did have a nice view of a lake. The morning staff was very nice each morning. One even helped me with directions to a funeral home which is why we were there in the first place. The continental breakfast was average, but they did have a couple of bar stools, but they were in front of the food which was not a good place to have the stools. The motel is near the Wine and Culinary Center. There was a lake down the street with a very little beach that cost us 3$ah 2$ for anyone under 18. The view of the beach area was very nice.
We booked this motel because any thing with better rates was booked. The place smells of smoke dispite their best attempts to mask it. It was interesting that the front office clerk had never heard of the Wine and Culinary Center, "Is that in Canandaguia?" The real oddity here is the stand up breakfast. Yes, there are places for about 6 people to sit down, but there are a lot more than 3 rooms! Very odd. I would suggest skipping this place if its the last place in town and heading down the road.
Clean and semi-comfortable. Perfectly adequate for my business related stay. Shopping and restaurants nearby, and not too far from Rochester for even more choices.
