Great food and a traditional ratskeller look. The wurst platter was fantastic, and the smoked pork chop was HUGE. Good beer selection, of course, and friendly staff.

Great German food, and tons of beers to pick from! The food arrived hot. Would love to have had a few pieces of bread included with the meal--you would be charged extra for that. How can you have German food without a little bread???

Another great evening, last minute decision to enjoy some wonderful German food. Greeted by our favorite waitress Emily. Always a great big smile and remembers our likes. Attentive and always aware of our needs. Food was delicious as usual.

We stopped in Canandaigua for a night on our way to Niagara falls and I was looking for a place to have a dinner. After reading all reviews we decided to go to this German place. Yes, it is small and simple but the food was outstanding. I travel to Germany on business and i can tell it is very very good. They had 4 german beers on draft. I got weisebeer and it was very fresh, like in Germany. My schnitzel with mushroom gravy was bigger then my dinner plate but i manage to finish all -yammy! The service is slow but it will give you time to enjoy your meal. Highly recommend to anyone who will visit Canadaigua. Prost!

German restaurants are sadly few and far between in the Northeast, and most of them, even the ones run by German immigrants or their offspring, are typically rather disappointing. Rheinblick is a welcome exception to that generalization, however. The cuisine covers the entire gamut of standard German classic dishes and is truly excellent in every respect. The Sauerbraten is superb and so tender it can be eaten just with a fork. The Rotkohl is equally good, although the Spätzle was a bit dried-out, indicating it had been prepared long in advance and kept in a warmer. The Schwarzwälderkirschtorte was OK but also a bit dry and long in the tooth. I suspect that the Nachspeissen are not their forte.

The wine list could be a bit more comprehensive and is particularly lacking in imported German wines, but then this restaurant is in the Finger Lakes area and the local vintages more than make up for that absence. The beer list is somewhat more extensive, but only one imported German beer was available on draft; the rest, including some much more interesting ones, were available only in bottles. My guess is that their beers don't turn over fast enough or in sufficient quantity to justify offering a more extensive selection of German drafts beers.

The restaurant is in a rather small and barebones storefront location. The decor is equally plain and unpolished; one should go there for the excellent cuisine and not for the ambience. Our young waitress was very attentive and helpful. There were a surprising number of tables occupied, for an early hour on a weekday afternoon outside of tourist season. I would guess that a good number of area residents have discovered this local gem of a restaurant and patronize it regularly, which hopefully will insure its longevity and continued viability.
