3 couples and a baby embark on a family trip. Knowing it was very inexpensive we didn't expect much. Just to be together.... We had two bedroom suite w shared living space. It was mediocre at best. We let it go.
One quarter roll of toilet paper both days after cleaning, have to call for more (1roll) every time. We let it go.
We had to chase down the shuttles between places-literally. We let it go. Booked horseback riding w front desk, showed up, & were told needed a voucher from from same front desk & to hurry bc leaving on horses in 11 min. We let it go.
Went to the gym & while one of us is using a machine (again literally) it collapsed, onto the person. While stumbling back and sitting in shock, the gym "tech" or whoever at the desk, moseys on over w a sign already written out that says "out of order" w a sad face - tape already affixed to it, puts it up then checks on the patient! We let it go.
At "dinner" before even served the main, the waitress comes and says, "So, how are you paying? Cash or charge?" We let it go.
One couple got charged twice for the $33 banquet dinner (which says it all - it was barely edible.) We let it go. When we go to front desk as instructed to refund charge, we find the waiter stole all the cash (2 couple cc and 1 couple left cash) and they want to charge the balance. We did not let that go.
The woman at the front desk states, "you ate, so someone has to pay." Get the manager.
The manager comes out, in a sweatshirt- we state every last thing. He says for the person who gets hit w gym equipment to come in back room to take pictures of injuries (no how are you or sorry)
This place is what it is, an old, poorly run place in the mountains, run by poorly mannered mountain people.

Thank you for taking the time and sharing your opinion regarding Villa Roma Resort.

We would like to take the opportunity and respond to some of your statements regarding our resort.

Our housekeeping department takes great pride in taking care of the rooms of the resort. This would include ensuring that toilet paper, among other essential items are replaced and refilled daily. Some of these things include dish detergent, towels, paper towels, coffee if needed, and more.

We are very sorry to hear that one of our machines have malfunctioned on you as we have not heard or have any written report regarding this. We take our guests safety very seriously and put this above everyone else. When something does happen when a piece of machinery or an amenity is out of order, we ensure that we shut it down until we rectify the situation. When one of our guests do gets hurt on our property, it is policy to take images of the area in which the guest was hurt along with images of the injuries. This is to protect our guests and our resort as well.

We respectfully disagree with you assertion that Villa Roma is a poorly run place in the mountains. Our staff trains all year long on hospitality and is one of the main reasons we are open to this day. We have expanded over many years and have taken all of our guests valuable input into what we do today and what we have to offer. We serve literally thousands of people each and every year and have an incredibly loyal and special customer base that makes Villa Roma their annual vacation destination. We do understand that as in anything else, we will always have some guests that do not feel Villa Roma is the place for them, and we respect this opinion.

We hope you stay warm during the rest of the winter season and hope you find a vacation destination you can truly enjoy! We do thank you for taking the time and sharing your experience with us.

Ok...after you get past the shock of the carpet on the banisters and worn furniture you will find clean rooms and lots of activities. Our five year old enjoyed their arcade, shuffleboard, wallyball, ping pong, bocce, and numerous bounce houses just to name a few. My husband loved the fitness center, bowling and tubing. It was a little annoying that everywhere you went there was a tip bucket out. There are so many low cost/ no cost changes that could be made to enhance /update Villa Roma. Overall a good stay.

We appreciate you taking the time and sharing your review with us!

We sincerely appreciate some of your suggestions regarding our resort. We are always in the process of updating where we can throughout the resort including but not limited to public areas, guest rooms, amenities, landscaping, and more. It is a gradual process, but we appreciate you looking beyond the handful of areas we have yet to accomplish and that you enjoyed your stay.

During the summer months is like a whole other world at Villa Roma, and we hope you take the opportunity with your family to come and experience what we have to offer during this time.

Thank you again for sharing your review with us, and we do look forward to seeing you and your family again!

There are many reviews that I read before we went. Some were negative. I was worried. First and foremost, we traveled with 2 other families. We all want to book for next year. We had a great time. Service by all staff was excellent! The ages of our party, several adults (some skiers and some not) & kids from 6-14. Pros: Breakfast & dinner (included) were wonderful and plentiful! We had Louiz and Alexson as our waiters for all meals. They were outstanding. They were from Brazil. They catered to us and the kids alike. Skiing: A lesson was included for each child under 17. The instructors were great & stay with you until you make it down the hill. We had 3 kids and 1 adult learning for the first time. They are all now skiing! 2 Slopes, mainly for less avid skiers or snowboarders. Tubing was fun for all! Slope passes, tubing, skating, bowling, bounce room all included in "fun pack" for $35 per day for an adult. Kids "fun pack" were included in price. $5 for rental skates. Bowling nice. Kids LOVED bounce room! Cons: We stayed in the lodge, although rooms were clean, rooms are very outdated and there is no discount for those rooms. Also, the designated smoking area was between the main building and the lodge so we had to walk through smoking guests and staff. Not an appropriate location. Food at the slope was CASH ONLY! and not that good. No multi day rentals ($22 a day to rent equipment) The cafe in the main building was good. Overall, we were hardly in our room and we made sure we ate in the main building for lunch. Just carry cash for tips and snacks. We will book again and make sure we get a newly renovated room this time.

Room Tip: Ask for a newly renovated room in the main building.

We just came from a long mlk weekend. We stayed in the hotel in the main building.
The room that they gave us was gross. Room H 139 The carpet had iron burns and gum stuck to it. The club chairs in the room were dirty and had burn holes in them. The furniture formica was cracked and dated from 1985. The beds are full not queens and the bedspreads are dated as well. This hotel you can tell is spending money trying to update. They are trying to get familys but they have a show at 10pm for adults. You should have a family show at 8pm. They should spend money updating the rooms in the hotel first then the timeshares. For the 1500 dollars spend for room and food You should go to the rocking horse ranch. Villa Roma needs much improvement

This past weekend we held the 17th annual New York State Theatre Education High School Student Conference at the Villa Roma. We had 775 students from 49 schools across the state, sponsors, chaperones and presenters - over 1000 people total. The staff was more than helpful, professional and friendly. From the moment you arrive until you leave, attention to detail is their mantra. Bravo Villa Roma for a job done extremely well! If anyone needs to plan a conference that runs without complications while making everyone feel as if they are receiving individual attention, then this is the place to go.

We love reading reviews like this!

We first off want to say that the New York State Theater Education students are one of our favorite groups we have the pleasure of serving throughout the year at Villa Roma. The students are so well behaved and so polite, it is truly refreshing to see and hear!

Everyone from our conference service staff to food and beverage staff take a lot of time in preparing for your groups arrival and to ensure it is a success. As you know, having almost a thousand guests in one area is not always easy to manage, but the cooperation between the hotel staff and the theater ed staff made this entire conference run like a well oiled machine!

We sincerely appreciate your recommendation of future guests having a conference with us. We acknowledge how important these conferences are and always ensure we put our best foot forward to make all of our guests and meeting planners happy.

Next year will be here before you know it, and we are excited to be having you back again. Thank you again for the kind review!
