“Pig N Whistle is a cute hidden surprise!”
Reviewed November 22, 2013

This little restaurant is a really cute, Adirondack styled place that is quite the surprise. It has an Irish-themed menu, but is not limited to bangers n' mash. You can get some interesting appetizers (Scotch Eggs) to the typical pub food (Wings and Burgers), to a steak or pizza or whatever!
We were seated promptly. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. Our food was delivered promptly and correctly (I had some substitutions because of low carb lifestyle). It was quite good and not overly pricey. The atmosphere was casual and comfortable. We will go again.

“ok, not great”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

On our visits here we have found the Pig and Whistle to be inconsistent at best.
Many times when we have chosen a meal off the menu, we have been told they were out of key ingredients. It makes you wonder who is doing the ordering, especially for regular items.
The service has been hit or miss in the attention you are given and the length of time it can take to get your meal.

“Great place to bring friends”
Reviewed October 21, 2013 via mobile

This is a great out of the way restaurant, that is next to a pretty little creek. Great atmosphere, if you want to sit out some warm summer night. They have a few gas fireplaces with chairs that surround it. Great for a few cocktails and good conversation . They also have tables for outside dining. We ate inside because of the weather. The decor inside was beautifully rustic.
The menu wasn't chuck full of Irish dishes, but they had some Irish standards, bangers and eggs, Shepherds pie. We tried an unusual appetizer called Irish eggs. It was a hard boiled egg wrapped with a layer of sausage, then coated with a beer batter and deep fried, it was wonderful. All of us had Burgers, and the beef was from either a short rib, or chuck, and you never had to worry about doneness the burger is big and cooked to perfection.
Service was very good, and they give military discount so I will be back for sure

“Thumbs up for food, entertainment and service”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

Heard an ad on the radio about live entertainment for here. Sounded like an Irish establishment so we checked it out online. Menu has Irish, standard pub and dinner options. Prices reasonable. Live entertainment Thurs-Sat. We went with another couple. We called ahead to ask about the entertainment (and checked him out online). The person was very helpful about which entertainers draw the bigger crowds and therefore the longer waits. We chose a lesser known entertainer and loved it. It's about 30 min drive but thought we'd take a chance and glad we did.
We got there around 6:30pm, got seated on the deck right above the entertainer. No rush at all for ordering. Courtney, our server, was very friendly and very good. I had the Irish Stew - delicious. Someone had the Sheperd's Pie and liked it too. The music (Frank Jaklitsch) began just before we arrived. He played 3 sets on his guitar of 60s and 70s tunes (right in our wheelhouse).
After dinner, we wandered to the lower deck to sit around one of the fire pits. Folks called out songs and he played ones he knew (which were most) and by the 3rd set, he came and sat at the fire pits. Folks took lead singing some songs. Mostly everyone there sang along. We were there for 4 hours and it was fun and relaxing.
All the guests joined whoever around the fire pits and joined in singing. We'll go back for sure and will hopefully get Courtney again. It's set back from the road so they might only get folks who know it's there but now that you do, it's worth the trip. It is adjacent to a stream so the view was good too. We'll look for Frank again too.

“disappointed”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

Restaurant needs a good cleaning, including the windows. Years of grime on them. Food size was 'skimpy.' I asked server for bread/roll and he said none were served with meal. We were so disappointed and will most likely not choose the Pig & Whistle again.
