If you need to access the city by car the hotel is a good location as it is one minute to 87. It has its own safe parking garage. It is a long walk or taxi ride to the metro. Rooms are clean as are the common areas. In general the facility is a bit worn but it is fine if you are not there for the rooms but there for the location. The continental breakfast is adequate. The staff were excellent and extremely helpful especially when you needed directions to get back to the hotel and did not have a GPS or map! Thank you Milly and the night maintenance person for being so helpful.

Okay I read some of the other reviews and they simply crack me up.... So we are talking NYC here for around $100, depending on if there is a game or not..... You shouldn't expect luxury..
Now if you are not used to NYC, black people, graffiti, garbage on the streets, bad street lights, ect. You may say the neighborhood is not great... But this is NYC!! The neighborhood is safe.. I am a 110lb white lady and had no problems, even after dark...
Okay, yes there are people that smoke weed in that hotel, and many other's I am sure.. SO you will get the occasional weed smell drifting your way..
Is the hotel staff rude??? Hmmmmmm... I am southern so everybody in NYC seems a bit rude.. Once you check in you don't have to deal with them again until check out... So not so bad...
The rooms are not great, but remember we paid $100 in NYC.... If you ask the desk for the vacuum they will let you use it...
The subway is handy and parking!! Most places don't have parking so I was happy with that..
So for $100 in NYC this place is not bad... I have stayed here several times and will be staying here again..

Check in was fast. We got into our room and immediately checked it out for bed bugs. Upon inspection, the mattress had dirt all over it under the sheet, marijuana seeds, a bunch of hair, etc. It was very disgusting. Under the mattress was a used condom. The draw where the bible was kept had marijuana remnants (sticks and seeds) in it. The bathroom sink had a dirty toilet tissue stuck to the side of it, and it was dry so I knew it was there for a while. It made for a very uncomfortable sleep, knowing what I was sleeping on. The entire second floor of this hotel smelled like marijuana. Cars with loud music played outside after midnight without staff saying anything. Terrible hotel.

The breakfast was terrible. They had warm milk out and the selection for breakfast looked very old. I ended up just going to Dunkin Donuts. I feel as though my money was wasted and will never stay at this hotel chain again.

The only thing good about this room was it's walking distance to Yankee Stadium (only in the day). Do not attempt to walk there at night. Even the nearbye police warned me of this.

Well where do i start? dont be fooled by some of these reviews..they lead you on. first i must complain about the clerk..isaac i believe his name was..he looks and talks! like he just came out of a rap video. tattoos everywhere..even on back of his hand!!!..he didnt sound too clever either? maybe didnt finish highschool by the look of him..i wouldnt doubt it.. but here is where my problem begins..when me and my spouse walked in. he was attenting another customer.. and he sold him a room for..3 hrs? they spoke in spanish. but little did he know i was fluent in spanish. yes thats right sold the room for 3 hrs. for i think 50 bucks!!! Disgusting. the rooms i must admit were bad for wat I expected. even for a 2 Star. the rooms were in bad shape..smelled damp. and had bugs coming out the bathtub drain.. my overall exprience just wasnt good. other then gettin to see the Yankees!!!! and last...on my last morning there. i was awaken by the same rude, rap video clerk in the front telling me to check out..when i asked if i could have a later checkout he simply said.Nah..and hung up.n thanks howard johnson for the bad experience in the bronx. but go yankees! ps.dont be fooled by the lobby..its beautiful!! decorated in yankee stripes and all..but thats where it ends..go up the stairs..and u realize your in a dump.

Friendly, Helpful, Great price.
Service was above what we were expecting. We arrived early they put us in our room with no problems. The room was clean and comfortable. Location was great for anyone wanting to go to Yankee Stadium. We walked to the Stadium. Free continental breakfast, everything was fresh and presented nicely.
Ozony and Pete were great help to us. They explained the easiest way to walk to the stadium and then suggested we take a cab back in the evening. After suggesting the cab, they then informed us of about how much we should pay for the quick ride back.
Thank to both gentlemen. On our next visit to the stadium, we will be using this Howard Johnson.

I wanted an Inn that was convenient to Yankee Stadium for two adults and two children (12 and 9). Because we were driving up from Pennsylvania that morning and needed to be at the Stadum for the 1:40 pm tour, there was no need for anything other than a reasonably priced clean room, comfortable beds, and air conditioning that worked. We got all of that at the Howard Johnson Inn Yankee Stadium including indoor parking. Phil the manager was great. He answered all of our questions including is it OK to walk to the Stadium which is less then 1 mile away (during the day yes, at night, probably better to take a cab). He even went so far as to suggest we only spend up to $15 for a cab ride, unfortunately, when the game was over, none of the "TAXI" operators would consider driving to the Inn for less than $30. We finally found one that would take the 4 of us for $25. The Continental breakfast was not fancy but offered enough choices that none of us left wishing we had gone someplace else.
