“Nice to eat outdoors”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

Johnny's Reef restaurant is a casual cafeteria type setting where you walk up to the different counters to order your food. You then take your order or a disposable tray and either sit inside or go to the seating area outside to enjoy the fresh air and the scenic view. The fried lobster tails are delicious and the fish portions are large. You can also have your order steamed.

Just like Tony's, great fried fatty food, terrible restaurant otherwise, has nothing really great to offer but it does have great views.

“Real life, Real food.”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

I should rate the food better, but the reason why I give it a 3 out of 5 is because this is not a fancy place. This is the place you go to in order to see real life; average people sitting outside, enjoying the seafood and the fries and the clams and whatever appeals to you for a reasonable price accompanied by a view of the Long Island Sound.
This is not a dress up place, but it's fun if you like to sit at picnic tables. Just be wary the seagulls. These "skyrats" are watching you - and your food. You'll be ok, just don't leave your food unattended or else you will have maritime company.
I enjoy the snapper. It's a good fish they serve there. If you like fried anything, it's the best value on the Island. It's easy to get there. Just drive on Main Street until you can't go any further. It's on the left and welcome to the Bronx.

“Greasy food, badly prepared.”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

There is nothing worth eating here, except perhaps the cole slaw. All the fish is frozen. None is local, and much of it is shipped from quite far away (South Africa, anyone?). The outdoor seating area inot bad, but there is no reason to go there. EXCEPTIONALLY poor value for the money.

“No thanks”
Reviewed October 10, 2012 via mobile

The food is greasy, the place is loud & for some reason, every one driving into the parking lot seems to think that we all want to hear the blasting music that I can not understand. Not!
