“Fish and chips spot with a view”

The crowd here can be a little ghetto, and on the weekends, holidays, and late nights the parking lot can get crowded. But it got a great waterfront view. The lobster tails and whiting fish are the bomb. It's reasonably priced and a great spot to chill out with friends, family and your significant other on a nice day/afternoon if you live in the Bronx, need a change of pace, and don't want to drive all they way out to Manhattan killing yourself over parking. A reasonable selection of drinks and cocktails. It's definitley got its

“Interesting set up....”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2012

My bf doesn't eat seafood, so while we were in City Island, it was hard to find someplace to eat. We walked into Johnny's knowing that they at least had burgers, and the set up was a little different. There are stations where you have to buy your food individually. There's a fried food station, where we had to order our fries and onion rings. A station for clam chowder. A bar. A station for burgers and hotdogs. Soda. Seafood. And you have to pay separately at each individual station. Once we got our food, it was pretty decent~ you get what you pay for. There is an indoor seating and outdoor. DO NOT sit outdoors unless you have a good hold on your belongings!! Because it is right on the water, the winds are very strong. We lost plates, napkins, etc that just blew everything away! Nice view though. Come here if you are looking for a variety of food at a decent price.

Get the fried filet of sole. Was actually a bit disappointed at the calamari because the pieces were cut too large. Scenery is great to forget you are still in NY.

“BEST VALUE FOR SEAFOOD!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2010

I've been coming to Johhny's since the seventies, and it still rules. Most of the food is fried, but it is still awesome. No frills, good eats.
