“Delicious food”
Reviewed April 27, 2014

It is very unassuming when you walk in, but the food was delicious. I enjoyed the tasty chicken soup with a homemade large matzo ball. My sandwich selection was the Chopped liver and pastrami combination with sour pickles -- great choice! A crispy fresh potato pancake and a Cherry Dr. Brown's soda accompanied my abundant lunch. Bring your appetite for this great deli!

“Lives up to its name...”
Reviewed December 29, 2013 via mobile

Loeser's Old Fashioned Deli is just that... It has been around for over half a century. It is a small neighborhood deli that has survived by continuously delivering fabulous traditional NY deli food at good prices. The evolving neighborhood flocks there for its simple consistency and welcoming friendliness. It also draws a lunch crowd from regular users of Van Cortland Park events.

“This place is ridiculously good”
Reviewed October 2, 2011

This place is ridiculously good. I am baffled as to how Loeser's still exists after such a huge demographic shift in the Bronx over the last 50 years.

I guess it's a testament to the quality of the food and the steadfastness of the owner, who has ensured that all of the the Jewish classics he makes are still top quality and made with great care.

This is one of those under the radar places that doesn't get the accolades that Katz's, the 2nd Ave Deli, and Barney Greengrass do. But Loeser's is absolutely in the same league, if not the best out of all of them.

Lunch was about $30 for 2, and included sandwiches, soups, cole slaw, pickles, and drinks. A bit pricey for the area, but you're getting some of the best Jewish food anywhere.

Without a doubt, this is a five star Jewish deli. Worth a special trip up to the Bronx.
