I spent several hours here and thoroughly enjoyed the facility. The buildings and grounds are very well maintained and educational, and there is a lot to see. In 3-4 hours, I feel like I barely scratched the surface, so if you really want to see everything, plan on spending a full day there. There's something for everyone, as there are greenhouses with tropical and desert environments as well as large outdoor areas showcasing native trees and plants.

This was my 2nd time at the Garden. It's just such a peaceful place and wonderful to just stroll around. Plenty of places to sit and relax. It's also very interesting. They do a lot of events. Staff is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful.

Landscape scenery are beautiful. Exhibits and the conservatory are worth your while. Medicinal plants exhibition are interesting. You can dial a number and get more information and basically have your own private tour. The children's adventure garden has shows and activities for the kids. The cafes are neat and not overly priced. The tram is worthwhile to get a tour of what the vast garden have to offer. Overall, a good value.

We took the D train out to the Bronx. From the subway station to the Gardens it is about a 20 minute walk but it is downhill.
City bus service is offered, and we did take it back to the subway station after visiting the gardens. Entry to the Gardens is a little high at $20. They do offer a $10 ticket, but you are not allowed to get on the Tram unless you have the $20 ticket. You need the Tram to see everthing, because this place is just to big to walk. We arrived just before lunch and went to The Garden Cafe. Very nice meal for under $10. We spent about an 45 minutes eating and another 4 hours looking in the gardens. We did not come close to seeing it all, but that is all the time we had. If you have the time, expect to spend at least a day there in order to see everything. Take the bus back to the subway station. The walk back uphill would be tough.

My wife and I spent a very enjoyable morning and afternoon at this wonderful botanical garden. We went as guests of my daughter and son-in-law who have a family membership but even if we would have had to pay the regular entrance fee, it would have been well worth it just to see a few of the excellent exhibits. We initially took the tram tour which gives you an excellent perspective of the expansive gardens and allows you to stop off en route at various points of interest. Highlights for me was the exhibit on Wild Medicine: Healing Plants Around the World in the Haupt Conservatory and the the highly impressive Four Seasons sculptures in the Conservatory Courtyard. Other places worthy of mentioring are the Children's Garden which our 2-year old grandson really enjoyed, the rose garden and lily ponds. There is so much to see that we only covered a small part of the gardens and will most definitely return when we visit New York again. The Visitors Center Cafe has a good selection of food at reasonable prices and was a good place to have lunch there and break up our visit.
