It is large and green, lovely to walk through. The website will inform you re the particulars - suffice to say it is a nice park to wander in.

We flew to ny for 2 days for our anniversary. Probably the number one reason we went to ny was the train show at the gardens. Let me tell you it was worth it. First, if you are staying in the city (Manhattan) it is about an hour to get there (subway then bus) but you will not regret it. The creations that this artist comes up with are unbelievable. The detail that goes into each masterpiece is spectacular. It takes about 30-45 mins. to walk through the exhibit and appreciate each design. We went on a wednesday and there were several school groups touring so try to time your entrance right after one of the groups goes in. This is an event not to be missed.

Better than you'd think. Been there four or five times in the last couple years. Lots of seasonal displays in addition to just the changing nature of the garden on the time of year. Crowded on weekends. Easy access by MTA or parking or subway. On a cold winter's day there's the amazing conservatory which magically places you in the tropics! Great for people of all ages

Holiday time in NYC would not be complete without a visit at dusk to the Holiday train show at the New York Botanical Gardens. Carefully crafted from bits of branch, seeds, bark and other plant materials, the famous landmark buildings of New York lie nestled amidst lit foliage, model trains running throughout. This is a not to be missed show - go at dusk for the full light effect.

Take some classes and learn some interesting things about our outdoors. Or just pick a section of the Garden to stroll through and read the descriptive signs. Grab a bite to eat in the restaurant. Visit one of the spectacular seasonal shows! Visit the library or the beautiful bookstore for beautiful and practical books and gifts.
