“Second best”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

It is a nice place to spend an afternoon to get away from the hustle of the city. Its mostly a naturalized area similar to green spaces further north in Westchester. As a "garden", i prefer Brooklyn's. Its much smaller and more formal, yet nevertheless more charming and inviting.

“Holiday Train Exhibit”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

The buildings, all made out of organic material, were amazing!!!! There were models of some of the oldest buidning in the New York area to all of the hallmark buildings; i.e. Yankee Stadium, the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, NY Public Library etc. The trains were just ok but the buildings a MUST SEE!!

“Go see the Monet's Garden exhibit in the final fall pallete”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

The exhibit ends in a couple of weeks at the Bronx Botanical Garden, but go see Monet's Garden. It is beautifully done, especially the lilly pond which is most impressive. In addition you will see two paintings in the library, never before shown together. Quite nice- I loved the Iris painting. The phtography exhibit of Giverny is beautiful too. A nice few hours to enjoy this exhibit and the beautiful grounds that surround it- enjoy the tram ride around the garden to see the different areas within the vast area- Rose garden, children's garden, library- hop off, hop on service makes it really nice to explore areas you want to see up close. Nice cafe and gift shop too. A delighful day out.

“Beautiful Oasis”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

As a new yorker, I neglect to review the wonderful opportunities I take for granted here in new york city. The NYBG is beautiful in every season, with changing exhibits in a lovely, setting of trees, rocks, and rolling hills. Tday we enjoyed the exhibit, "Monet's garden", plants, waterlily ponds, paintings and photographs, all with the beautiful and historic buildings on the grounds of the gardens. This overlapped with an outdoor sculpture exhibits .If you are in NYC during the holiday season, don't miss the train show! Even if you don't have children. The NYBG website is full of info. and very helpful.
