The food was delicious. The service was excellent, and the musical trio was a great surprise. The entertainment on Friday night was so enjoyable. Made me feel like I was at a resort in Cancun or something. One of the nicest dinners out in quite a while.

I've been searching for decent Mexican in the area for years. I have been to Guadalajara. Such an "ehh" experience -- overpriced and bland. I have been to Tenampa. Prices are decent but sometimes the food could be more inspired. I have been to South of the Border. Not at all memorable. Los Abuelos? Don't understand whatever hype there still is; the food is overcooked and doesn't seem that fresh. But finally, finally, I have found my go-to Mexican restaurant: Maya Riviera. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and, most important, the food tastes damn good. I'm a big fan of chiles rellenos, and there are 3 different kinds on the menu here. I had the Maya version, with ground beef, potatoes, carrots, and onions. So satisfying and flavorful! Other highlights: the mixed appetizer platter which is pretty huge. Our table of four had more than enough to snack on: multiple quesadillas, flautas, chimichangas, pico de gallo, and guacamole. Also, the free chips and salsa are some of the best I've had in the past couple of years. Nice warm, fresh, crispy chips. No grease. The flan was great. I would have licked the plate clean if I were at home. The margarita could have used a touch more booze, but overall it was a good drink.

The service was truly lovely. Pleasant, smiling, attentive wait staff. And the kitchen timed the food well. We had a nice amount of time between the appetizer and entrees.

I'm very happy with Maya, plan to go back soon, and hope that others check it out and keep it in business. We finally have something other than mediocre Mexican in the area. Let's keep it alive and well!

It seems there is finally a worthwhile restaurant in this location, after many mediocre ventures. The once dismal décor has been spruced up just right for a cozy Mexican ambience. The food was very good with ample portions. The guacamole(while not prepared tableside) was unusually good. The margaritas could use alittle more tequila to cut the sweetness, but were acceptable. As the place is new, I believe they are still working on improving the service. However, I consider this a "find" for local Mexican food and will definitely return.

Just visited this new restaurant. We were hoping to find a Mexican restaurant similar to Guadalajara in the same town. Maya Riviera is just average. The decor is the same as it was when it was an Italian restaurant with the exception of the new paint color and a few new pictures. Same old tables and chairs. Layout of this property has always been strange; the best tables are near the fireplace but also too close to the kitchen and rest rooms. Food was just average. I ordered the beef flautas but received the chicken flautas in error. It's a good thing though because my husband ordered the beef chimichanga and the beef was not edible. The flan was excellent. Service was fine. Don't think we will return; back to Guadalajara which although a bit expensive just can't be beat!
