Owner description: The Hunt family has been farming west of Branchport, NY, on Keuka Lake for seven generations and started the winery in 1981. Our 170-acre farm encompasses 43 acres of wine grapes. The varieties under our care include Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Seyval Blanc, and Vignoles. We are the oldest continuous producer of genuine ice wine in the United States. Our wines have been served at the United Nations, ordered by the White House, featured in Food & Wine and on NBC's Today Show. We have nearly eliminated our fossil fuel use for heating, cooling and electricity by installing award-winning geothermal and solar systems. Our goal is to farm and make wine in ways that ensure the health of our land, water, and air for future generations.

“Best chardonnay”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

My husband loves Hunt Country. We like to make trips to the finger lakes and this is always on our list of places to go. Everytime we stop here we come home with 2 or more bottles of chardonnay!

“the best!!”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

Our bus group showed up half an hour early for a 10 AM tasting and the owner offered an impromptu tour while the staff set up for us. He was gracious and very personable and the tour itself was extremely informative about the history of the area and about wine making. The grounds are lovely, with the family dog wandering around and horses viewable down the hill. I had been there before two years ago and knew that I needed to get more of their wonderful ice wine, but also picked up several other bottles and some novelty jars of food from the gift shop (better priced here than in other wineries we stopped at later). The enlarged tasting bar was set up to handle a group our size (45) but they took people as they were ready to taste rather than waiting for us all to gather in one large group. Beautiful view from the window as you taste. Try whatever 5 wines you want rather than a pre-selected group of wines ($1 charge for the ice wine taste--so worth it!). Informative advice from the servers. The owner even encouraged us to pick grapes from one section (popcorn grapes, I think they called them) for eating--and they were wonderful. Across the road was a stand to purchase grapes and grape pies. Definitely the best of our six stops.

“Always excellent”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

We are annual guests at Finton's Landing, and we never miss Hunt Country. A great wine tasting experience, and plenty of choices of reds and whites, with reasonable prices. .

“Our favorite stop on the Keuka Lake Wine Trail”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

The owner of our B&B suggested that we visit Hunt Country Vineyards especially for the ice wine. It is a bit off the of the main road so I am not sure that we would have found our way without the recommendation. We are so glad we stopped! All of the wines were quite good and it was hard to make a choice of what to ship home.

“Choclate and Wine Pairing!”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

Both Hunt Country Vineyards and Keuka Lake Vineyards offer chocolate and wine paired tastings that are a must-do on any wine tour of the Finger Lakes. I have not yet had all the wines Hunt Country has to offer, but my favorite so far is Alchemy.

The gift shop is a lot of fun with a selection that was varied and unique. The view from the tasting room was spectacular. Mary guided us through our tasting and provided local knowledge at a friendly and relaxed pace. We really enjoyed our stop!
