Owner description: The Hunt family has been farming west of Branchport, NY, on Keuka Lake for seven generations and started the winery in 1981. Our 170-acre farm encompasses 43 acres of wine grapes. The varieties under our care include Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Seyval Blanc, and Vignoles. We are the oldest continuous producer of genuine ice wine in the United States. Our wines have been served at the United Nations, ordered by the White House, featured in Food & Wine and on NBC's Today Show. We have nearly eliminated our fossil fuel use for heating, cooling and electricity by installing award-winning geothermal and solar systems. Our goal is to farm and make wine in ways that ensure the health of our land, water, and air for future generations.

“Best value in the Finger Lakes”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

I have no idea how Hunt Country does it. I like all of their wines. And none of them are terribly expensive. The Seyval Blanc, for example, is one of the best $10 whites I've ever had. The Alchemy blend is always spot-on, year after year. They even do a very nice ruby port and a cream sherry. Hunt Country's only offerings that break the $20 barrier are the ice wines, which are always more expensive. Hunt Country is one of the few wineries I know of at which it is impossible to go wrong. Or go broke. Stock up!

“Nice wine. Nice people.”
Reviewed August 21, 2012

I tried five whites, on the dry side as is my preference, and bought a bottle of each because they were all so good. How much of a bargain is that for just $2, especially when they credit your $2 to your sale?
Their shop is lovely and the people I talked to, Ellen and Paul, were great! Perfect beginning to a couple days away in the Finger Lakes. Thanks!

“Friendly staff and nice building.”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

Loved the gift shop and building. Staff was attentive and friendly.
Wine selections were good. Would recommend to anyone, especially if they are staying at Keuka Park, or Esperanza Mansion as they are just down the road.

“Chocolate and Wine!!”
Reviewed July 24, 2012

Pairing chocolate and wine tasting as an alternative to just wine tasting was a nice surprise. The staff offered us more tastings than we paid for, which is a great sales strategy because we bought several of their wines (and chocolates). Their gift shop offered unique items, and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly.
