We went to the Sagamore for a conference and were struck by the lovely setting on Lake George and the awful service we received in the restaurant. Go visit for the scenery - eat elsewhere. When we tried to find out why we were getting such slow and inattentive service in the fairly expensive restaurant we were simply told that the kitchen was overwhelmed and there were only two cooks. The management should have made certain to have enough kitchen and wait staff to accommodate the three conferences they had booked at the resort the weekend we were there. Unfortunately, they don't seem to care about stressing out their employees (I truly felt sorry for the waitstaff) or providing poor service to their guests.

The Sagamore is so welcoming and comfortable. The views from the main rooms are to the lake, there was a fire in the fireplace on the rainy day we checked in and the bar was the best place to watch the lake and enjoy a quiet afternoon. We loved the ambiance and the service was not obtrusive and excellent. We really had a chance to unwind and spend a relaxing time together. It is only a couple of hours from our home but it is a world away- a mini-vacation. We are part of the staycation group and have learned to appreciate what is in our area.

We have been to the Sagamore many times over the years and have always enjoyed our stay there, but I have to say that the improvements to the resort are Wonderful. The beautiful new outdoor pool area is one of the best improvements on the property. Also the seating area where you can sit and have a drink while looking out to the lake is so relaxing, I could have sat there all day.

They have also made many improvements in the hotel too, including a beautiful new bar and Italian restaurant, which was excellent.

We checked in on Monday, Memorial day. By then, many people had already checked out, so we enjoyed that it was nice and quiet., and even better, we were given an upgrade to a lodge suite, which made our trip even more relaxing, I wish we could have stayed a few more days.

We found everyone very friendly and attentive. We spent most of our time at the resort relaxing and had most of our meals at the restaurants, which were excellent. We really enjoyed our stay there and look foward to returning sometme soon.

first visit back in 3 years ( since we moved out west) so it was a return to pleasent memories. the Lake and the Hotel ammenities were just as good but I think that the room was a little "tired and old". The hotel is under new ownership so it will be interesting to see which diection it goes. The location is super and the lake is active with all sorts of activities. It is a clean , cool, lake and the lakefront dock and sun/swim area is our cup of tea. They did open when we were there a large negative edge pool that overlooks the lake. great place but we felt the pool was runover by lots of kids and we were looking for a quieter retreat. We enjoyed the visit ( 6 nights) and loved the water and activities. I would recommend though that the menues at the Pavillions, grill and restautant would be a bit more different. same food and preperation so after 3/4 days you wanted a change. The golf club restaurant is a change and a super place to dine.We did not play golf since it was wet and cart paths only. All in all and good place for couples and families . I hope to return when back east to see if new ownership has changed the place in a good direction. With this location and ammenities, they dont have to try to hard to be at the top .While we were there the Today marning Show was there to show off vacation spots---- a good choice if it was a bit hectic for a day.
Oh thanks to the concearge who helped my wife get her plain bording pass even though she did not have the paperwork, thanks for going out of your way

We stayed at the Sagamore 9/7-9/10 for our 25th Anniversary. We had a wonderful time and the premises, restaurant, staff and customer service ("consider it done") were amazing.!! We do hope to go back again next year.

We had some "bumps" in that Labor Day was late this year, so occupancy dropped 90% the day we arrived (back to school week, instead of vacation week). So...as a result... there were some restaurant closings and amenities unavailable that we could have been better informed about. I understand the closings, but surely some local talent could have been secured for the Piano in the BEAUTIFUL main lobby, which would have kept folks on the premises instead of leaving for the local food and spirits. (we had fun chatting with others we met in the lobby who were then leaving to dine elsewhere. They agreed if the ambiance was better they would have stayed on the premises.)

Anyway, we loved our stay. The premises are absolutely beautiful, the food was great and the staff was amazing. Judging from the negative reviews posted here in the past they have come a LONG way. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone (not sure about the basement rooms). I'm sure the new owners will continue to respond to customer surveys and feedback and it will only be better next year.

We look forward to returning!

Heading to The Sagamore to spend some "mini"-moon days after our wedding we found out soon that we were booked on a construction theme park; everything from nail guns constantly hammering, landscaping equipment ruining the park to a fire set off by roof cladding works was included. The best part though were fire alarms going off repeatedly, only to be told by the front desk that these were false alarms generated by the system, these complemented by dark aisles, lit by emergency torches-

Our complaint letter to the property management group was never answered, although in dispute negotiation with our credit card company two letters suddenly appeared that alleged were sent to us. Great way to win returning clients!

We have been going to the Sagamore for more than ten years. We always found it to be charming and beautful.. Now it is Disneyworld. Gone are the beautful sitting areas overlooking the lake The decor is not fit for a historic hotel. Josh at the front desk was MOST helpful along with Carl who took care of the fishing equipment. We stayed here for three days left after two. We stayed at the Otesega Resort in Cooperstown before we got here. A historic hotel that has not lost its charm and beauty. The Sagamore should take a look at what it means to be registered as a historic hotel.
