Just came back from our second stay at The Sagamore. First with family---Second with 4 couples on a golf getaway. Both experiences were outstanding. From the boat cruise---to the finely maintained grounds, magnificent setting and grand hotel---to the friendly and attentive staff---to the excellent fitness center/indoor-outdoor pools---to the terrific 18-hole golf course with views of Lake George---to the superb dining selections at La Bella Vista---to the hearty and delicious food at Mister Brown's Pub---to the always available shuttle service to town, golf, etc.---to the excellent Lodge accommodations. Our stay was a most enjoyable and memorable experience. Definitely a home run in every way. Looking forward to a return visit.

Staying at the Sagamore Resort, especially this time of year with the trees coming into full color, is a magnificent experience. The main hotel is grand, well kept, warm, and welcoming. The lodge room we had included a fireplace that added the perfect touch to the cool fall evenings. Our stay included a trip around the northern end of Lake George on the hotels own boat, the Morgan. We enjoyed it so much my face hurt from smiling so much. You've got to try it.

Room Tip: the lodge rooms facing the lake are the best, but they are all large and warm.

If there were 10 stars, the Sagamore would get them. Our room overlooked the pool and lake and was absolutely gorgeous. The service was impeccable from the front desk check-in process all through the weekend until checkout. We had our room checked at night and the used towels removed, our room straightened, our bed turned down and chocolates on our pillows - - what pampering! The food was absolutely delicious and we enjoyed every morsel. We also enjoyed a dinner cruise on the Morgan as part of our weekend activities planned by our hosts and were met at the end with a huge bonfire and smores - - an awesome way to end the night! Overall, I say the Sagamore is a heavenly place to stay on Lake George and is so very worth it!

Room Tip: Views of the lake are breathtaking

We had always heard good things about this place and came here for a birthday celebration, but we all ended up disappointed. This is not a 5-star hotel (maybe a 3-star at most). The rooms are sparse and not well built- which means a lot of noise from neighbors. (We had 3 lodge rooms for the group). Amenities were a joke. The restaurant, LaBella Vita, was underwhelming at best. 3 of us didnt finish dinner it was so bland and tasteless. However, the worst part was when we checked out and were asked how our stay was- we told Kris (the guy at the front desk) that it was disappointing and he could have been less interested. The only thing worse than a bad stay at a hotel is staff that could care less.

Went to this hotel for the first time today for my mom's birthday. Walking in, it's a beautiful historic, well kept hotel. We sat on the deck for lunch which was nice since it was cold and rainy but the deck is heated and covered.

The food and service we got were a different story. Though not a busy afternoon in the restaurant, our waitress was not accomodating and seemed to be in not the best mood. Did not offer water, drink refills, or dessert. Very surprising and disappointing.

$12 for a cheeseburgar and "tuscan" fries. The burger was not cooked how I ordered, an d wasn't that good despite it. I can get a burgar from Cheesecake Factory or Ruby Tuesdays cheaper and is way better! The fries were just plain fries and were definitely sitting around a while.

I would like to say I would give it another try but, I don't know.....

Although The Sagamore and surrounding environment are beautiful, don't let the tranquil eye appeal fool you. While patronizing the spa with my sister on a recent visit to The Sagamore, we realized that her wallet was missing after we departed. I won't go into all the details, but, DON'T TRUST THE LOCKERS, or, THE LOCKER ROOMS, for that matter! The only time her bag was out of her site was for the duration is was in the "lockers".

We also later realized that several pieces of jewelry, not kept the wallet, but in her handbag, we gone as well. Keep in mind, this included all of her I.D., which makes her return trip the West coast a potential joy as she approaches TSA at the airport.

Thank goodness we were travelling together, as the management at The Sagamore made no effort to insure that she had provision with which to travel.

Local law enforcement was wonderful.

Incredible location right on Lake George. To be precise, it is an island on Lake George. This place is a full service resort with a staff that is more than happy to help. Our room (#204, Governor's Suite) was VERY spacious with a view to die for. The bathroom was huge.Dinner at La Bella Vita (on site) was excellent. Sagamore is very expensive but is truly worth every penny. We were sorry to leave and will return.
