“Lakeside setting”

This restaurant overlooks the lake so you can watch people come and go on their boats. There is also a boat hire place next to it if you're feeling adventurous after lunch. The food is good "pub grub" - chicken wings, club sandwiches, pizza etc but excellent quality and good service. There is a large outside eating area but it gets very busy. Recommended.

“Very Good with Nice View”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2008

I was with a group that included seven kids and eight adults. We ate on the deck and had a very good experience. The food was above average and the service was excellent! We had salads, soups, appetizers, and entrees. The Fillet Oscar was especially good. I would go there again in a heartbeat.

“Ain't what it used to be”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2007

We have visited the Algonquin on and off for about 20 years and always went away satisfied. Not this time. Since downstairs was crowded and we wanted a relaxing dinner, the four of us opted to eat upstairs not knowing it had gone pretentious and grossly overpriced. Should have known better when we saw upstairs was almost empty.

The owner (?) gave a Morton's Steak House presentation of the various steaks, chops and fish in a long and ostentatious (read boring) recitation as if we 70 year-olds never had more than a hamburger or hot dog. Everything was Ala Carte and way over priced. I ordered Garlic Flavored Shrimp and got 5 medium sized shrimp in a so-so garlic sauce for $25. My $4 mashed potatoes were luke warm. My wife's fish dish was bland at best and our friend's dishes were likewise. Five good Bloody Mary's and one desert and coffee later we were really impressed by the $180 bill. Nice view from the table of the lake and marina but not worth that much. NY City prices in this Adirondack setting won't fly for long, considering the food quality.

If we do go back we will eat downstairs with the non-pretentious menu and prices.
