“FANTASTIC!!!!”
Reviewed September 22, 2007

Once again another wonderful, fantastic time with Joe & Patty!! Went up there for a second time, bringing along some girlfriends for a Ladies Weekend and we can not say enough, what a great time we all had! This IS the most beautiful, tranquil place on Lake George! I am shocked at a previous review by some guest who made Joe & Patty seem like these unreasonble Innkeepers, LISTEN TO ME!!!....GO to the Boathouse!!!
They are the most wonderful couple you will ever meet, when one owns such a wonderful house as they do, they HAVE to make sure certain policies are met for the safety of their guests! This person who put them down certainly felt he was above everyone else and can do whatever he wanted in their home...
the rooms are beautiful, the food is awesome and we had such a great time meeting new friends!! You WILL fall in love with the lake, the house, with Joe & Patty..THANK YOU for having such a absolutely gorgeous home & may you always have guests who respect & appreciate The Boathouse and the people who run it!!! We WILL be back!!! My sides are still hurting from all the laughter with fellow guests late at night...you know who you are!! Lol Lol....Hasta luego! Until we meet again!

Must husband and I just returned from our stay at the Boathouse Bed & Breakfast on Lake George and wanted to let everyone know what a fabulous place this is to stay. Beautiful impeccibly immaculate accomodations, beautiful scenery, and a staff with cordial, pleasant and personable personalities available to you for whatever you may need. Patti and her staff make a 3-course breakfast that is so delicious, we just didn't want to leave. Restful, peaceful and beautiful. In Lake George, it doesn't get any better than this.

This B&B has one of the most beautiful settings for rest and relaxation you can imagine. The lake is beautiful and the house has many common areas either to mingle with other guests or to find a quiet spot all to yourself, all while taking advantage of a great view of Lake George. My bedroom was clean and comfortable. The hosts were friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. The breakfast was exceptional, much more than you would expect.

I stayed for only a weekend but wished I could have stayed longer.

My husband and I visited the Boathouse to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. We spoke with Joe numerous times about the property because we wanted to make sure that we picked the right spot. Joe was so helpful and friendly, we just knew that we made the right choice and our stay was going to be great.

This house is so beautiful and immaculately kept. It is so obvious that the owners, Joe and Patti, have put a lot of money and love into to keep it that way; everything kept in perfect condition. There were flowers pots and boxes everywhere that added to its beauty. and charm. Cheri, their manager greeted us at the door and gave us a very informative and thorough tour. We stayed in the Reis Suite and this upscale and tastefully decorated suite is in the main boathouse. There is a porch attached that sits right over the water. We enjoyed our morning coffee and evening cocktails on that porch everyday that we were there. The rooms are stocked with everything you could possibly need; toothbrushes, toothpaste, robes and slippers, etc, etc... They have thought of everything. The inside is as immaculately kept as the outside.

We cannot not say enough wonderful things about the Boathouse, the owners and the staff. The breakfast, the beds and linens, the atmosphere; OUTSTANDING.

It was a cold cold night on the lake when we arrived, but it was quiet and absolutely beautiful out!! The view of the lake is exceptional.
The rooms are small, but they are very thoughtfully put together. The walls ARE on the thin side, but that's typically an issue with B&B's. The bed was comfortable and there were cookies to welcome us.
The breakfast was delicious, though vegetarians should call in advance to ensure that your diet needs are attended to.
I think that they could lower their rates a bit--we would have been more inclined to stay longer if we could have afforded it.
The owners are generally very helpful and good humored!

We just returned from The Boathouse. To start with the positives, the place is beautiful, the grounds should be featured in a magazine, the beds really comfortable and the breakfast delicious. That being said, I would never return, nor would I recommend it.

Joe was really nice, Patty never introduced herself to us, as she seemed irritated that we were 5 minutes late to breakfast. Her first words to us were that we were parked incorrectly and that we are not allowed to give out the code to get into the house (in lieu of a key) to anyone. I gave the code to my sister, who was checking in that day. She let herself in to see us and Patty was not happy about that. I felt like a high schooler getting in trouble.

Later that day, we took my mom who was staying somewhere else, out on our boat, which we brought and docked (for $40 a day extra) at the Boathouse. She met us on the dock and on the way back in, Joe came bustling down and told my husband that we were NOT allowed to have guests come see us. First, it made us seem that we were always being watched, then we were blown away by what he was saying. My husband explained that we just took her out on the boat and he said it didn't matter. No guests are allowed in the Inn, no exceptions and we should know this, as this rule is posted all over the Inn. ( the only place I saw this rule was when I went looking for it after we had to ask my mom to leave. It is in a book of rules and other info you get when you check in) . When you walk in the door, there is a towel that says "Guests of Guests May Not Bring Guests". I though the towel was a joke.

My opinion is that if you are opening your home as a B&B, then the level of hospitality needs to be there to support the beautiful home and its' surroundings. I have traveled to many, many places, and never once has there been a rule that guests are not allowed. It seems to be a complete oxymoron to me. On top of all the other rules (don't remove makeup with their washcloths, don't sleep or lie on the made bed as they don't change the comforter, don't touch the stereo, etc. the "no visitors allowed" was the straw that broke the camel's back for us.

It's too bad, because it has the makings of a 5 star Inn. They need to lighten up with all the policies.

While the Boathouse is in a beautiful spot and is nicely maintained, we wouldn't go back. Considering the high cost of the rental (which is charged in full when the reservation is made), our room felt small and stuffy, unless the fan was on full speed and the balcony door was left open. We did have a private bath in the room, but the shower stall was quite small, which my husband found confining. We appreciated the rules regarding quiet times from 11 to 7 am, but, unfortunately, one of the bedrooms has a private bath in the hall, so every time one of the occupants got up in the night to use the bathroom, it woke us up. We didn't feel very rested by the time we left.
