“Cate's is a treat!”
Reviewed July 25, 2006

We are seasonal residents of Bolton Landing and just finished another fine Italian meal at Cate's. As usual, it was a delightful experience. We made a reservation in the afternoon for dinner. I recommend that you call ahead because they get many walk-ins and a reservation assures you of a short wait. The outdoor tables are roomy and well spaced. Our drink order was taken immediately and served in a timely manner. The waitress was friendly and knew the menu well. We were four people and ordered Chicken Piccata, Seafood Primavera, Lasagne and Spaghetti with Sausage. My Chicken Piccata was delicious and my husband's Seafood Primavera with Scallops looked super. I dipped a piece of the crusty warm bread, that is served with the meal, into his sauce and decided that I will have the Primavera with Scallops next time. It is served with the freshest mix of vegetables you could ever hope for. We have enough leftovers to enjoy tomorrow. Our friends were equally effusive about their choices. Dinner is served with a simple green Caesar Salad. On other occasions we have had the Fried Calamari appetizer which is fresh and plentiful, enough for four people to enjoy. Their pizza is crusty. We usually get a veggie pie, with your choice of five vegetables. The fresh tomatoes are grown right there at Cate's, as is the fresh basil. The pizza is like a picture with the vegetables artfully placed on the pie. The staff is equally pleasant and helpful if you order a full dinner or a pizza. The inside dining at Cate's is air conditioned and very nice. We decide inside or out depending on the weather. Cate's is definitely the place to be for a great meal and service in Bolton Landing. “Italian Food .....Fuggeddaboutit!!!!!!!”
Reviewed May 29, 2006

My boyfriend and I were just in Bolton's Landing for Memorial Day and saw Cate's, which from the outside looked like it would be a great dining experience. To our surprise, the service and food was horrible. The waitress was slow getting our drink orders so the hostess had to come over and take tem . We did not even get bread - like the rest of the tables. My boyfriend's shrimp primavera was overcooked and watery. He could barely eat it. My sea bass was WAY over priced and the vegetables that accompanied it were frozen (not fresh) and not even fullly cooked. We left there very unhappy at both the quality of the food and the service. For someone that claims they are experts in Italian cuisine, they didn't even come close!

“Over 6000 Guest, loved the food !!!!”
Reviewed August 13, 2005

We own a B&B in Bolton Landing( Boathouse B&B) and our first recommendation for Good Italian food is Cate's. Since our opening in 2000 we have had over 6,000 couples stay at our B&B. I can say with the up-most honesty that not one person has expressed a bad comment about there lunch or dinner at Cate's. So Cate's is still number one for good food and service. Keep up the good work Cate & Buddy from Joe & Patti!!!!!

“whats with the tipping policy here?”
Reviewed September 6, 2004

great food and service. nice outdoor patio. but why did our waiter upon bringing the check inform me that normally an 18% gratuity is added to the check but none was added to ours because we "seemed like people who would tip ok."? we were a party of four. his tip went from 20% to the suggested 18% immediatly. we,ve visited lake george every yr for the past 20 and thought we'd found a great new place to eat outside of LG but this odd way of presenting a dinner check changed our mind.
