“Great accommodations and surrounding area”
Reviewed October 18, 2013

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights for our 10th anniversary trip. The room and common areas were just our style and were true to the beauty of the photos on the website. The property was charming and picturesque with the barns and incredible Catskills scenery. We were lucky to catch the leaves near their peak - it is hard to imagine nicer views.
The vegetarian/vegan food was superb. Each day there was a different delicious smoothie and a meal that was flavorful and light but with enough substance to give us energy to start the day. We particularly enjoyed the tofu scramble and raw flatbread. Michelle made it look easy and we had a nice time talking - her perspective on food is fascinating and we liked how she shared based on our cues as sometimes guests want quiet and sometimes we want to chat and learn about the transplant B&B and Catskills scene.
The location offers and plenty of walks and hikes and nearby small towns with surprisingly good food. The farther towns had spectacularly scenic drives and the shops and small-town feel we hoped for. Woodstock was a great place to spend a day walking and shopping. In Oneonta, we spent a rainy afternoon stopping off at a cozy restaurant, a bookshop where we found an excellent selection for the kids, and an organic market where we recharged again for the evening. We even caught an amazing organic farm dinner outside Cooperstown on our last night.
After a day roaming the Catskills and charming towns it was nice to return to the Turquoise Barn where there was hot herbal tea waiting. the shower water was hot and the soap smelled superb. It's those little things combined with the surroundings, food, and hosting that helped make the trip special.

We had a great stay here during a weekend in the peak-foliage season.

The vegan breakfasts were super tasty, but maybe a bit on the smaller side for a day of hiking, for which there is ample opportunities in the surroundings.

Our room was spacious and and comfortable, though we woke up some times in the middle of the night due to a nearby rooster. It's a good idea to bring your own toiletries, as only soap and towels are provided.

Michelle was a lovely host and had a lot of suggestions for activities and places to eat. There are several places with good food nearby. We will definitely visit the Turquoise Barn again when we come back to the area,

My boyfriend and I spent one night at the Turquoise barn and it was a truly special experience. The B&B is situated on 14 lush acres, complete with a pond, gardens and 2 barns, including, of course, the Turquoise barn. The property is a photographer's dream, as is the surrounding area of Bloomville. We spent our two days there checking out the local farms (you can pick up gouda cheese, yogurt and milk at the ByeBrook Farm just a few doors down), enjoying the local fare (lunch or dinner at Table on 10 is a must!), antiquing, perusing some of the many, many books at the Bibliobarn down the road, and taking in the beautiful scenery while hiking on the rails to trails path across from the Barn. Most importantly, Michelle and her husband Michael are wonderful and accommodating hosts, and Michelle's both delicious and visually appealing breakfasts could make this meat-eater question whether she could go vegan. Did I mention that almost all of her ingredients come straight from the garden?? We stayed in the Moss Room which is sparse but incredibly comfortable and hosts a stunning view of the pond and the rest of the beautifully landscaped property. Some guests mentioned hearing the rooster crow in the morning but we didn't hear a peep - that's how well we slept. On Sunday, we thoroughly enjoyed spending time with Michelle and Michael, getting a tour of the property and hearing about their plans for the future. For an easy escape plan from NYC, I recommend staying at the Turquoise barn without any hesitation!

Room Tip: The Moss Room and Rosa Room are a bit pricier but have the best views! Also, great soaking tub in t...

We spent one night at the Turquiose Barn surrounded by nature and loved it. The views from the windows are spectacular. Michelle and her husband are lovely hosts and have lots of wonderful information about eating raw food. We bought some honey and eggs from her hens -- loved it.

We camped and ABSOLUTELY adored the Barn. We are so happy we went- 3 couples for a small retreat out of the city. We enjoyed the beauitfully talented and welcoming family as well as their beautiful property. Some vegetarians and some meat eaters in the group- but we all enjoyed Michelle's delicious breakfasts in the morning. We spent the afternoon and night cooking over the firepit- camping style. Extremely serene- beautiful hike- in the midst of chickens, cats and farmland...we were at peace.

They have a small kitchen with a fridge for use for the campers- makes it a little easier. Really clean facilities for the campers. We got a peak into the bed and breakfast rooms- beautifully done.

Hard to find, but an incredible gem. we will DEFINITELY be coming back.

We only met Michael (Michelle - we're very sorry for your loss) and since his wife's the raw-foodie, we missed that part. Well, that's a bit of a stretch. We did not "miss" anything at this gorgeous, simple, rustic barn/B&B/house/home.

If you want a simple place where you can sleep long hours and (literally) feel your stress melt away - go to TB. Michael and Michelle are just getting it off the ground but they've gotten everything right so far. The place is quiet, serene and make sure you take their "travel brochure" seriously. It has some fantastic recommendations for things to do in the area, places to see and places to eat at.

The place is very simple - know that before you go. If you're looking for jacuzzis and hot tubs and private swimming pools - not your place. If you're looking for a place that serves amazing and extremely good-for-you breakfasts, has some amazing company to sit around and chat with and where the owners know someone to come to your room and give you a killer massage or to make you do yoga in a barn full of fresh air - this is your place.

There's also camping on the grounds and our second night there, Michael made a gorgeous bonfire right outside. The stars are unbelievable, the peace unmatchable and the place - well, just go. The history of the place and a lot of the area – which Michael shared with us, is phenomenal. We’re not originally from the US so hearing about its history, settlers first in the area was a treat for us.

Michael - we cannot wait to come back.
