This is one of the best children's "museums" in the country. Very much "hands on". Kids especially 4 to 8 seem to have the most fun, and watching them use what's there to play at being something extraordinary is a lot of fun

Great place to spend some time with young children, you can go for as little as an hour and have a great time! Plan on spending at least a couple hours. They have great classes and camps for the kids as well. Super, creative fun space. Well worth it. Beautiful outside gardens now too.

Fun and educational for kids of all ages, and even adults. The variety and quality of interactive and engrossing activities they have packed into this place is truly impressive. Our 3 year old daughter had a blast, and even after she was obviously beyond exhausted, she still didn't want to leave. Other reviews, and their website can give specific information about what they have to offer.

I just strongly suggest that you DON'T TAKE YOUR TODDLER WHEN IT'S BUSY! As another reviewer said, the bigger kids get a bit wild and bowl over the little kids. Also, the huge play area is tons of fun, but there are large hidden areas where you can't see a child at all, with several places to come out that can't be seen from one, or even two locations. With both my wife and I trying to keep track of our daughter, we still had two episodes of panic when we couldn't locate her for several minutes. We also realized how quickly and easily someone could walk out the door with her without anybody knowing. When it's busy, the noise makes calling for her, or even hearing a response impossible.

I think it would be much easier to keep track of a toddler, and much more fun for them as well, to go when things aren't so busy. I will call ahead to figure out when that might be the next time we visit. If it weren't so easy to lose track of a small child in the play area, or go unnoticed if they left with someone else, I'd easily give them 5 stars.

I don't think either problem would be an issue when things are quieter. I also think both issues could be rectified if anyone at The Discovery Center were inclined to do so. Perhaps something like matching hospital id tags for parents and toddlers which must be checked at the door, or some other way of ensuring children only leave with the adults they came in with should be considered.

Thank you for your review of The Discovery Center. We recognize that our littlest visitors my be overwhelmed during busy times that's why we open on Mondays just for toddlers, birth through preschool age for some big-sized fun, from 10am-3pm. (We are open to all ages on Mondays when school is not in session.) We also suggest that you visit after 2pm on weekdays when visiting school groups have returned to their campuses or call ahead to see if there are groups scheduled.

Any adult who enters the building without a child is asked to leave their driver's license or passport at the reception desk until they exit the building. If they refuse to do so, they are not allowed in the building. Our exit doors are alarmed and we have security cameras in use. We are very safety conscious! We also stress that parents are expected to supervise their children at all times.

We hope to see you at The Discovery Center, soon!

I took my 21 month old and a friend of mine brought her 17 month old. The two boys had fun checking out the fire truck, the boat at the campsite, the train table and so much more. The staff was helpful and pleasant. We will be back next summer - if not sooner!

It is a great childrens museum but I would recommend calling ahead and asking when the quietest hours are for taking a toddler. The older kids race through here and tend to knock the toddlers over. The price is reasonable.
