“Excellent value and service”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

This motel is a diamond in the rough; looking at it from the road, looks like a typical roadside motel. But the rooms are good size, clean, nice kitchens. Guests are well taken care-of. We have stayed twice so far & were very happy both times. Nice little touches throughout. Only negative was the shower water temperature was hard to control.

Our room was spacious, clean, and charmingly decorated. The breakfast basket was generous and had everything we needed. The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I would be happy to stay at the Starlite again.

My family loves to stay in this motel when we ski at Belleayre. The rooms are clean and lovely, it has a kitchen (well stocked with cookware and dishware), the breakfast baskets have a nice selection of cereals and muffins. many of the rooms and bathrooms are newly renovated, but most of all, the owners are incredibly nice and helpful. Michelle is so warm and accommodating, I feel like I'm staying in my friend's hotel. She always finds time to chat with me, and has provided us with special requests from Lactaid milk to Children's Tylenol. It is our "ski house" away from home.

Our stay was terrific. We were two families with rooms side by side. We each had a son with us who were friends and who were just getting their ski legs on. The rooms were warm, clean, and the kitchens were very well outfitted. The kitchen has a tall fridge and freezer, a full stove with oven, pots and pans, plates, knives, cutting board, serving spoons, whatever you need she has included for you. The sink is very large and the kitchen has a table and chairs. The bedroom also has a dining table with chairs and we were able to have a nice sit down dinner apres ski with the two families together. In the morning the boys were able to run out back which has picnic tables with umbrellas and outdoor fireplaces with little seating arrangements around them (and woods to climb and explore and hilly rise to sled down). There are grills outside as well, one per room, though everything was covered in snow so we did not use it. The outdoor space also has a lovely screened in room which not only has delightful stringlights for night time camaraderie but also tea lights and lighters for a magical outdoor seating area and also has a large dining table. The proprietor is very generous with granola bars and boxed cereals in room/bagel/jelly/butter, you name it, it's in the basket, and a full quart of unopened milk in the fridge. If that's not enough she has teas and other supplies available in the office - she won't let you go hungry! Had I known it would be so easy, I would not have brought so much food with me! The bath was clean and hot, the beds comfy, and it could not have been closer to Belleayre mountain. Did I mention the kids ski free and adults get a discount on equipment rentals and lift tickets? The discount comes with the motel. Great stay, great deal, we will definitely return. Thanks Starlite!!

Yay! Thank you! You are a wonderful reviewer: so thorough yet to the point. Looking foward to your families returning. There is so much to do in the Catskills. I'm glad you found us and that we can be your home away from home.

My Husband and I just stayed there for our 10th Wedding Anniversary. This was our third time staying there. Michelle did everything she could to make our weekend getaway a special one. She is an amazing person! The Motel has such a cozy, home away from home atmosphere. From the kitchen in the room to the back door leading into a big backyard filled with patio furniture to sit & enjoy nature. We didn't get to toast marshmallows in the fire pit this time. Down the road, places to eat, anywhere from BBQ, pizza, to seafood. Only half hour away from shopping malls. All around great place to stay!!!

We were so pleasantly pleased with our Birthday getaway at the Starlite Motel. Michelle is such a warm, happy person that helped above and beyond. The room we stayed in had a small kitchen and everyone has a grill in the backyard area which was larger than it looks from the road. We loved the fire pit and warm cozy feel of this motel. The location is perfect in between Phoenicia and Margarettevillle in the heart of the Catskill Mountains. Big Sky is a small town but alot to offer.

Room Tip: The room at the end #8 has more of a private porch area with a table set up to enjoy the back yard a...

Title says it all... For the $, this place is a great value, rooms had kitchen and service was excellent. Stayed here night before hike in the Catskills and this is everything one could want. Though I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic honeymoon, if you need a place to crash and want all the amenities, then look no further. Hope this review helps.
