Owner description: Our 2016 Pricing, Operational Calendar and other information is available on our webpage and our our facebook page. Please note that on all normal operating days, the rides close from 3-3:30 pm; the arcade and concessions will remain open during this time. Located on the shores of beautiful Chautauqua Lake, Midway State Park is a family treasure. Originally established in 1898 as a trolley park, Midway State Park is one of the oldest continually operating amusement parks in the nation. The first owners of the park constructed playing fields, tennis courts, bath houses and a dance hall to entice customers to ride the trolley on weekends. In 1915, a new building was constructed with a kitchen, a large dining room and space for dancing and roller skating. Today, this building is home to a museum, gift shop, concession stands and other facilities. Midway State Park continues to offer the same family friendly atmosphere that visitors have come to love. Patrons can take a nostalgic ride on the vintage carousel, play a game of mini golf, take a spin on the tilt-a whirl, ride the go-karts and bumper boats or watch their children enjoy themselves on the many kiddie rides. And, while some may prefer to relax while enjoying an old fashioned candy apple or cotton candy, others can test their skills at classic midway games. Several picnic shelters are available for family reunions and company picnics. Accessible by the waters of Chautauqua Lake, Midway also is a great place for fishing and free docking is offered for day visitors. Household pets only, must be caged or on a leash no more than 6 feet and have proof of rabies inoculation. No pets in public buildings or in the amusement area.

My kids had a blast, as this is our type of amusement park - manageable area, no lines, decent rides, decent number of rides. The gigantic slide was about 5 storey high, and it we had a so much fun doing that over and over!

There's even bumper cars that the pictures don't show. There's a mini golf course that comes with the day pass. The day we went, the passes were $13 per head. I thought that was very cheap. There's a train course that's a treat too. The bumper cars and the carousel complete the list of the "essentials" for the kids.

There's a huge arcade place, where the other reviewers said they played quarter skee balls, which is a treat. There's food on site and an interesting gift shop cum museum where old rides and attractions were on display.

The charming Chautauqua lake is also there, overlooking from the Carousel!

Now comes the BUT. After having fun in the roller coaster, I noticed that men started work on the tracks (yes, the ride was closed down). It was concerning what happened there. I don't know how it was detected and what it the worst thing that could have happened. Maybe the authorities should have a look at that part of the operations more closely, being a public entity as well.

So other than the danger (that did NOT cause any actual trouble on this day) I spotted, this is a great park for a family day out.

And by the way, there are picnic tables! Parking is free!

Miss "Mr. and Mrs' Midway" the Walsh's that owned it. It's a fun place to take the younger kids, yes. But gone is the personal one on one that use to exist. The roller rink is not going anymore. The carousel has been put out in the parking lot. Hopefully the roof of the old location is repaired by the time anyone reads this. Half of the time nobody is even manning the rides because they are always short on employees! Very sad to see the State running this place..... Not the same Midway Park.....

took my 5 yr old and her friend to the park. I grew up going to Midway and it is not how it used to be, there used to be so many more rides and it was a lot nicer. It definitely has changed. They still had fun but not as many rides. Definitely worth it for $10 ride a rama wristband. The positive is you can bring a picnic lunch.

Midway State Park as it is known today is a quaint old park located on Rt. 380; with boat docking available on Chautauqua Lake. It is between Bemus Point and Dewittville. Back in it's day it also had a great roller rink but, unfortunately is now closed. It is a great park with picnic pavilions for family gatherings overlooking Lake Chautauqua. The amusement rides are mostly geared for younger children i.e. helicopters, boats, tilt-a-whirl, a giant slide and there is a train ride for young and old to name a few. Yesterday they offered free face painting (8/11/13) and the artist was absolutely amazing. Midway still boasts a small arcade where all the games are only 25 cents to play. The carousel is in the process of being renovated back to its original state so the wooden horses are temporarily black, brown and white is color. It is a great little park for the young and old to enjoy and very safe.
