Owner description: Our 2016 Pricing, Operational Calendar and other information is available on our webpage and our our facebook page. Please note that on all normal operating days, the rides close from 3-3:30 pm; the arcade and concessions will remain open during this time. Located on the shores of beautiful Chautauqua Lake, Midway State Park is a family treasure. Originally established in 1898 as a trolley park, Midway State Park is one of the oldest continually operating amusement parks in the nation. The first owners of the park constructed playing fields, tennis courts, bath houses and a dance hall to entice customers to ride the trolley on weekends. In 1915, a new building was constructed with a kitchen, a large dining room and space for dancing and roller skating. Today, this building is home to a museum, gift shop, concession stands and other facilities. Midway State Park continues to offer the same family friendly atmosphere that visitors have come to love. Patrons can take a nostalgic ride on the vintage carousel, play a game of mini golf, take a spin on the tilt-a whirl, ride the go-karts and bumper boats or watch their children enjoy themselves on the many kiddie rides. And, while some may prefer to relax while enjoying an old fashioned candy apple or cotton candy, others can test their skills at classic midway games. Several picnic shelters are available for family reunions and company picnics. Accessible by the waters of Chautauqua Lake, Midway also is a great place for fishing and free docking is offered for day visitors. Household pets only, must be caged or on a leash no more than 6 feet and have proof of rabies inoculation. No pets in public buildings or in the amusement area.

This is like turning back the clock to the 50s. Very nice, old-time kids' amusement park with great rides for young children. Good place for grandparents to take the grandkids. Clean and safe.

Where can you play Skee - ball for just 25 cents ? The answer is Midway Park.
Every Summer when we visit from Orlando, we go to the park and while it's not Disney World or Universal it doesn't try to be.

Midways charm is that its local, has free parking and admission and you only pay for what you want to do. You also won't wait 45 minutes for a ride like you will at Disney in Orlando or spend $ 400 bucks just to park your car and buy admission tickets for a family of 4 at Disney.

The bumper cars are a favorite of my 9 year old and he rode them like 6 times last weekend, he also climbed The Rock, rode the slide several times, and got soaked in a water balloon toss game with another kid. - yes he loved it !

The park targets younger children under 6 really for the bulk of their kids rides, so if your looking for a huge roller coasters, and Disney Characters you've come to the wrong place.

There are several picnic areas, a Carousel and they make great Curly fries, The park is now owned by New York State after decades of private ownership.

2-3 hours at Midway is more than enough and will be very easy on your pocketbook !

This is a very old park, so expect a very old park with so much fun for the family. Brilliant job preserving old rides and the old arcade, we all had so much fun. Where else can you still find 25 cent games in an arcade, our kids were delighted as their "money from Nana" went so much further (they are 5 & 6). The rides were fun, the climbing wall was a huge hit for our son.

The only draw back was that, in the sweltering heat when we were there, the vending machines for drinks was broken and there were only 2 girls working at the concession who looked like they might die of heat stroke at any second. It took 20 minutes to buy a couple bottles of water and we didn't have the heart to ask them to make us food so we just stayed hungry until we left for dinner elsewhere.

Park needs a lot of work. I grew up in the area and the park was always well maintained when the original Walsh family operated it. But now it looks dirty and tacky. What a disappointment that the state bought it and obviously can't keep up with maintence.
