“Surprising”
Reviewed November 30, 2013

My friend and I stopped in for a bite to get out of the cold. The atmosphere is inviting and beautiful. You can easily picture having a small, elegant wedding on these grounds. When we first walked in, the hostess was a little cold because we did not have a reservation. We decided to still give the place a chance, and we were very happy we did. Our waitress, Liz, was genuine and friendly. The menu is very small, but worked out in the end. We split a veggie burger and tuna melt. The veggie burger was amazing. Don't get me wrong, I love meat, but this was really good. The tuna, though good, was a little on the salty side. We also ended with fresh coffee and apple pie. You can definitely taste the difference in the quality of the ingredients. I probably could have sat there all day with coffee and a book. I am now intrigued enough to try their other restaurant.

“Over priced, salty--- better meal at Friendlys”
Reviewed November 9, 2013 via mobile

$12 for a toddler's chicken nuggets with fries? Really? Over cooked, over salted. $4 for a croissant? Even the apple tart was salty---how they managed that I do not know. Waitress was sullen; the rest of the wait staff nice.

“Too Late for Lunch!”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

We arrived 5 minutes after they stopped serving lunch at 2:30pm on a Friday and had no choice but to sit at the bar and order from the arraignment of baked goods displayed on the counter.
We asked to have a bagel toasted with Ham and Cheese which was a delicious alternative to a heavy lunch and teamed it with a sweet muffin afterwards. We were upset that we had driven 2 hours and had just missed lunch by 5 minutes but the baked goods were sufficient and yummy!
We may return to sample the lunch menu in future!

“good cheeseburgers”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

We booked dinner well in advance and were assured that the great cheeseburgers we had enjoyed on our last visit to the area six months before would be available. We arrived only to find this was not the case and had not been the case for several months. Only a 3 course meal could be ordered, at about $30/35 per person.

One of us ordered a coke and received a small glass full of ice, with very little coke. What a ripoff. The starters were nice, but the mains and desserts were all average or even disappointing. The service was OK, nothing special. By the time we finished, at about 9.15pm, the place was empty.

Determined to have the cheeseburgers, we enquired as to availability. They were only available at lunchtimes, we were now told. We duly returned one lunchtime to enjoy them. They were good but not nearly as good as we remembered. Probably we won't return.

Earlier this year, we had also called one lunchtime to ask about the bakery. We were told it was open until about 3pm. We arrived, to be told they were sold out. On our lunchtime visit this time, we were shown the "bakery" which consisted only of patisserie type offerings. No breads at all! They insisted this sweet stuff was "bakery"! They must have been having us on.

Unfortunately, misleading assurances appear to be endemic at this place. Do not believe anything they tell you, especially over the phone.

“An Ordinary Brunch at a Beautiful Setting”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

This casual restaurant in Bedford Hills greets you with a beautiful setting, .. a fabulous hardscaped garden, with rather routine plantings (except the Zen Garden with Cryptomeria, Split-Leaf Maples, and Bamboo). The Bamboo overhang over the terrace was adorned with mature wisteria.
The small restaurant has the feel of a Garden Room that has been outfitted with the best authentic looking period details, ...ceramic floors, mullioned oversized windows, and a beautiful terrace.
Unfortunately, the limited Brunch offerings were unimaginatively prepared and small for the average a la carte price of $20. Service was also nothing to rave about.
Owing to its location in one of Westchester's toniest areas, the place was loaded with young couples and young families who seemed quite happy to rough it in such an elegant setting.
