This is a small but very comfortable b&b. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well appointed. Breakfast was wonderful, from the artfully arranged fresh fruit plates to the pumpkin pancakes. It is a bit off the main street, so if you're there without a car, be prepared to walk a lot, or pay for cabs. (If you arrive by train, the owners will pick you up at the train station.) I will definitely return to the Swann.

The Swann is a bit of a hike from downtown Beacon, but it's worth it. The owners are great hosts and cooks, and are very helpful with directions and recommendations for Beacon. Highly recommended!

My wife and I had a great time staying at the Swann Inn for a couple of nights. Neil, the owner, was very knowledgeable of the town's attractions and even more knowledgeable of the area's most popular attraction, the "Castle Island" on the Hudson (a tour we recommend taking). If you're interested in small cafes, boutique shops and a little Jazz, stay at the Swann Inn and spend your time strolling in town. You will not be disappointed!

This is an outstanding B&B. The Red Room was beautiful, lavishly appointed, and very comfortable. The hosts were amazingly gracious and helpful, even driving us back and forth and picking us up at Dia to take us into town. The breakfasts were delicious. The town was charming, with beautiful foliage, and Dia was fascinating. We definitely plan to return.

We stayed in the Red Room and adored it. It was large, clean, comfortable and very nicely decorated.Breakfast was wonderful. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and snacks are available 'round the clock. If you travel by train, Neil will pick you up at the train station which is at the opposite end of town. The inn is a bit farther from Main Street than we'd hoped, since we came without a car. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to town. The best time to visit Beacon is the 2nd Saturday of each month, when galleries are open late and serve wine and cheese. There's a festive atmosphere. We enjoyed dining at Cafe Amarcord very much and the Dia:Beacon was not to be missed. We also really loved the bar "Max's on Main" -- the owner's very friendly and we had some delicious appetizers there.

We had a lovely 4 day weekend trip to Beacon, NY this past year that was lovely. We stayed at a great little bed and breakfast called the Swann Inn (a historic house in the town), which was the real highlight of the trip. Breakfast was plentiful and perfect every morning, with choices that ranged to include vegan/vegetarian options (soy yogurt!!). The house was also gorgeous, with interesting decorations, and a great historic feel. It is also located within walking distance of the entrance to the hike up into the nearby woods/mountain, along an old/no longer in use, railroad. The site from the top is gorgeous. The town of Beacon itself is very friendly, with great little shops for chocolates, treats, nice dinners, and kitchy hobbies, like a whole shop dedicated to arcade games. The town really caters to different hobbies/youth culture, and the food options that healthier minded NYC types would go for. Unfortunately, some shops seem to be experiencing the recession and had closed down. In town, I would say the top places I visited were, Dia: Beacon, the Hermit's house (a great little gallery/house where a printer lives and works), the glass blowing factory and store closest near Dia: Beacon (with a garage), and the micro batch ice cream shop! 4 days was definitely more than enough time to spend in Beacon...by the 4th day we were a bit bored. There is just one street that goes for about 6-7 blocks, where all of the town's main attractions are located. By the 3rd day of a visit, you may have gone up and down the street too many times. One could venture to spend the 3rd or 4th day driving out to bannerman's castle (about an hour's drive away), or more of the historic/scenic Hudson Valley.

My husband and I decided to take a mini staycation from NYC. We stayed in the green room with the private bath. The room was cozy and comfortable and we felt completely relaxed. We had a wonderful breakfast served to us by Neil himself. He was the most accomodating host, as was his wife Darlene, who by the way makes an outstanding French Toast.
Everything was clean and fresh and delightful. Our mini staycation was a marvelous getaway. Thank you both.
