“What a surprise!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2009

My wife and I had never been to New York, much less Bath, but we found this hotel quite nice! It still has the new hotel 'smell' and our room was very spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable, the room had a fridge, and the noise level was at a minimum throughout the hotel. The only drawback we had was with the breakfast in the morning. The coffee was half water, the apple juice mix wasn't right either, and the food wasn't being restocked. Aside from that, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again! :)

This is a few frills hotel that offers a decent value. Check-in was a tad slow, but I'll let this slide as the woman was in a training mode. Arrived in our room and it had one bed--not the two that I had reserved. Called the desk and was told I was given an "upgrade" to a "suite" with a "queen" and a pull-out couch. All of the 2 bed rooms were gone, she said. two of my family members also rented rooms that night--one before me--one after; both given the 2 bed rooms they reserved. hmmm. The tv was a nice HD flatty, but was stuck in closed caption mode--took me a while to wade deeply in the on-screen menus to fix this. All I can think of when this happens is "maid watching tv while vacuuming". As other reviewers suggested, the b'fast area is small, serving up a spartan bill of fare. but..its free, so what should we expect at a low end hotel? These quibbles aside, other important things were in place--the room was spotless and the staff was extraordinarily friendly, giving us directions on two occasions. If it weren't for the "upgrade", this property would have rated my coveted 4 star status.

This was a great value. Keep in mind that it's not a high end destination but if you use it at your travel hub and don't mind a drive to attractions it's a winner. It's a short trip to Corning from here, about 20 minutes, as well as Hammondsport and Keuka Lake.

We were impressed by the suite we booked (based on other reviewers here) and the comfortable bed. The bath amenities were a bit skimpy but you have to keep in mind the cost. It was a fairly quiet location, except for the interstate nearby. No noisy people so we were really relaxed.

Minor quibbles: not much room in the breakfast area. We were very lucky to get a space with two chairs. Also not much variety in the breakfast foods. Again, considering the rates here, not a surprise and not a problem. We were trying to keep it light considering our plans for later in the day.

Bottom line: clean, comfortable, new, quiet and a heck of a bargain. Don't pass this one by!

Prior to booking the hotel, I had read the reviews. I am really impressed with the excellent review. Well, I am not disappointed.

We got to the hotel at about 10pm. The place is fairly easy to find while getting off the highway. Check-in was quick. I am glad there was still someone at the front-desk to check us in at that hour.

The hotel is new, very clean. The best part of the hotel is the room. The decor is very modern. If you just look at the room, it could easily pass for a 3 or 4 star hotel. Unlike many motels where coat hangers and iron board are exposed in the room, this one has a closet. There is a lot of light and mirrors. The place appears to be very large. There is a flat screen TV and fridge, which is a plus.

I didn't rate this place excellent for a couple of small issues:
1. My room door didn't close easily. You need to pull/push pretty hard for it to lock. I think this is the problem with this particular room.
2. There isn't a lot of drawer space. There is no dresser, just 2 medium size drawers under the window sill.
3. The shower curtain is not heavy enough. If you are not careful pulling (which I am not), the curtains could easily end up outside of the tub, and cause a lot of water to be on the floor.

Anyway, I am trying to be picky, since everyone likes this place so much. I really enjoyed the stay, and would definitely recommend to my friends.

Got a suite here passing through and was a bit skeptical given the low price. Talk about a surprise! The hotel is only a year old and everything still seems brand new. The suite was spacious and very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the flatscreen TV was perfect. For $74, it just can't be beat in terms of value.

the microtel in bath, ny is less than 1 yr old so everything is in great condition. staff friendly and quick. we had a jucuzzi suite for for 2 nights for a weekend get away. it was a very pleasant stay. the room was very clean, the jucuzzi was wonderful. flat screen tv located so that you could watch it from any where in the room. plenty of storage space. the window seat was a pleasant surprise. there was also a microwave, coffee pot, ref. located within a wet bar. every thing was handy. all thou the room could have been bigger.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The single room is a bit cramped for 2 people, so we upgraded to a suite for a slight additional charge -- definitely a good decision (since the suite was more spacious and included a microwave and breakfast bar as well as a comfortable couch). The property is very clean, staff very friendly, knowledgable, and accomodating, We'd definitely stay here again.
