“Lipstick on a Pig”
Reviewed May 6, 2012

NEVER EVER AGAIN. Staff presents caring to your face but as soon they are out of sight you are forgotten. Made it thru the first night BARELY. Maint came in next day and the bed (frame)was in worse shape (I have a Picture) after they left. Returned to the room 9pm night two and first find the door PROPPED OPEN, bed siting at a slope. Had to fight w/ front desk to get me in touch w/ a manager. Full house and no one on duty? She was too busy checking guests in. Found another handicapped room at the Comfort Inn. Next day, met the manager and he's trying to blame the frame on the last guest. He did refund us the first night.
2 years ago this property was a Holiday Inn and we tried to stay there, reserved a non smoking room (confirmed). They tried to stick us in a smoking room, that they offered to have maint spray. Stayed at the Hampton that time. Should have learned. I have now.

Room Tip: Lots of other choices in the area

I spent close to a week at the Clarion. The staff was friendly and the owner of the hotel did everything possible to make our stay terrific. Tom Phelps, who runs the water park is wonderful. He's well organized and obviously cared that everyone was having a good time. He was always there to help and make sure things were running smoothly.
The hotel itself is newly renovated and very nice. The rooms were clean, and the diningroom very good. I would recommend the place to anyone, especially families with children. The water park is great fun.

We chose this hotel this time because we were bringing our 4 yr old son. They have a indoor water park. Its not huge but the perfect size for him. The have a play area with differnt things for the little ones slides, There is a pretty big hot tub...and a good size pool with a basketball hoop. The rooms were clean, the staff seemed friendly. The only thing that was negative for me was the price was a littel high i thought for the waterpark $15 a person. Ive been to amusment parks that charge about that price and you get alot more. They def need to lower that price. But i guess they can charge it seeign there arent any other hotels around that offer an indoor waterpark. But for the size of it it should def be cheaper. Especially when you are payign to stay there. We payed about 160 for the 3 of us.That included a 2 day water park pass. But we only used the first night there. The breakfast was pretty good. It was buffett style with the basic choices. Was nice to have a hot breakfast. I would stay here again it is a very convienient location.Right next door to Target. Other shopping close very close to Batavia Downes.

We live less than an hour from the hotel/waterpark and thought that it would be a fun overnight since the weekend weather was so lousy. Check in was quick but the gentleman that was at the counter was less than friendly, he seemed quite annoyed that he had to deal with us. The room was clean, quiet and there were no offensive odors. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. The waterpark was the big disappointment.

Room Tip: If you don't want noise, don't get a room around the pool.

We were excited to take the only day off we had as a family during Easter Break to go to the waterpark. It took over 20 minutes for us to check in and no one really greated us, no one told us where the waterpark was or anything. We were told to ensure we had our wrist bands and that was it. I will say that the size of the park is great for younger kids. My kids enjoyed the offerings at the waterpark, it wasn't too big that I had to worry about losing them in the crowds. There are two slides and a sauna that is always packed and the small indoor pool barely had room for anyone else. We did notice there seemed to be not enough lifeguards. The kids wading pool slash small slides had one lifeguard on one side that couldn't even see where the kids came down on the other. It may have said one kid at a time down the slide, but the kids were going at the same time and knocking some of the little ones over. I stayed with my child the whole time, but many people don't. Parents were around the area reading books and not watching their kids... There should have at least been a lifeguard on each side
As for our room, if you stay more than one night, I suggest the "suite" room for $20 more, it has a couch that pulls out to a bed and was a nice size. Just watch for cleanliness, there was hair in the tub and we had to have one beds sheets changed because it wasn't clean.
I did receive a $25 breakfast voucher as part of the package, but I suggest ordering off the menu, the buffet food was cold even when they just brought it from the kitchen.
There seemed to be little padding between floors, I thought there was a herd of elephants above us well into the night.

Room Tip: I wouldn't book near the waterpark, the smell was very high and noise levels seemed loud. The s...

There are too many issues to list. Front desk was rude, and the manager pretended to care, but offered nothing in return for the many problems I encountered.

Room Tip: There are much better and newer places nearby to stay at.

All I can say is that I'm glad that I was not paying for the room, and I feel badly that the entity that did pay for it will probably never know that this place is truly not a place to put up an out-of-town guest because I am too polite to tell them that. The room itself was okay. The hotel is very worn and dingy. The elevator lobbies have furniture that looks like they were dragged off the street. The corridors smell like smoke, probably because the rooms are situated so that smoking and non-smoking rooms are on the same hallways. The real clincher that this was not a place I'd ever come back to was that the last night of our 3-night stay we came back to the room around 11pm to find that directly across the hallways was one of their community rooms with a raging party in full swing, doors wide open so you could see the lineup of liquor, and people in the hallway who were more than slightly drunk and way more than slightly loud. We called the front desk to ask when might this affair be ending, and... they laughed at us! And then said they had no idea. What kind of place books guests in rooms so close to their party rooms? We requested a room change, which we got, but the inconvenience of having to pack quickly since we'd been there for two days was a little annoying. Plus the AC was really loud and you could not open the windows. We were glad to check out. Never coming back. Ever.
