“Pleasantly surprised”

Being that Batavia is a small town, you'll find it difficult to find a family owned restaurant nearby. Alex's place was very convenient and surprisingly delicious. Only complaint was the decor, (a little "that 70's show basement) and the tables were a little too close together. Other than that, the staff was fantastic and the food was great, very home made! Great specials and decently priced. Will come again if in the area!

“Arguably the best restaurant within 20 miles”
Reviewed July 4, 2014

We were in Batavia for a week long business meeting. Batavia is a small town, with restaurant options and Alex's is the best.

I enjoyed meals on 2 different evenings and was impressed by how busy they were on Sunday evening, as well as Wednedsayd.

The staff is very attentive and is proud to be part of a team that shows pride in service, food quality and attention to detail.

Well done and highly recommended!

Am accidental pleasure....traveling from MI to VT, staying in Batavia only for travel convenience. Guess what? A HUGE score.... Yaay Trip Advisor!!! THE best ribs....sat watching a teriffic pastry chef Matt S. work his station...a balletic dance of culinary skill and training...had his divine strawberry and blueberry cake with whipped cream frosting....yum!! Soon to be a Dad, Matt will no doubt be a culinary success ...Good luck with paternity,Matt!! To all others,go to Alex's if you're in the neighborhood....Wonderful!!!

“Remote Place great food”
Reviewed June 20, 2014

Okay everyone! Ribs it is. Tucked away in a small City of Batavia and not on a main thorough fare is this small restaurant, known to the people of Batavia and surrounding area. Easy to get to off the I-90. Worth the stop. Does not take reservations for 4 or less, but will accept call in hold the table for me after 5pm. They give you a variety to chose from with side dishes, salad is basic, soups are good. Ribs are very tender, fall off the bone and very tasty. Go for the mix of the garlic and sauce on the side. VERY VERY GOOD. When I am in the area, this is a must stop place.

“Go Early”
Reviewed June 10, 2014

Passing through Buffalo on a Sunday morning and had to have some Buffalo style wings but were too early for lunch at any of the Buffalo restaurants touting their wings. Had to keep going so gave up on the wing thing. Hit Batavia around 11am, found this place on Tripadvisor and took a chance. The restaurant has a dark barroom feel when you walk in but guess what -no cigarette smell! Hit the jackpot with wings and ribs. Best baby back ribs I've ever had (read: most meaty). Wings were everything we thought they should be. Mine were mild, flavorful but but didn't eat through my lips, my son's were hot and just right for his preference. Daughter's medium wings were to her liking. Service was excellent. Didn't see any children there so not sure they would enjoy it. Go early -I can understand why there would be lines to get into this place.
