I went to this restaurant recently for lunch and the service is probably the worst I have ever had. When we arrived no one came over to seat us, we had to ask, then a table was just pointed out to us, no menus were given so after no one came to us I had to ask for one, only to then be pointed in the direction of them to get it myself. This pattern continued for ordering our food and then trying to get the bill. Even when paying we had to go and find someone and there was no thank you when we did pay. We visited on a Wednesday afternoon so it wasn't even busy!

The food was really great though, if it wasn't for the awful service then I would regularly visit!!

Reserved Sunday lunch for a large group. The pub interior has much character but the decor is slightly 'old' and dingy. The nooks and crannies may not suit families & indeed we had 2 babies under one in our party which was tricky to manage! We waited a long time for a waitress to take our order. When she approached our table she made no apology for this and made us feel we were keeping her waiting whilst she took our order. The food was poor. Amongst our orders was a half roast chicken-dry breast but greasy/fatty leg, served with chips & limp, token side salad leaves; haddock and chips-tasteless fish with greasy batter & several roasts which were just mediocre. Condiments were served from a tray by the condiment police-(were not allowed to be left on the table!). Given that the mains were on average around £12 then having some condiments that you could serve yourself without having to go and find a waitress mid-meal for more may have been nice! Finally immediately after paying our bill-table cleaning began and we were asked to clear from the area as soon as possible several times even though it was clear we were preparing to leave and as mentioned before had 2 babies with us. Having been kept waiting so long for our order to be taken it was hardly our fault other customers were being kept waiting! Cannot possibly recommend the Bugle Horn-worst Sunday lunch experience in a long time.

We used to go here for lunch all the time, but it just took forever to get served, when you have an hour you need fast service!

Food isn't too bad, its better than most of the chain pubs in the area and they have great outdoor space for drinks in the summer.

Our 2nd Visit this summer. A quieter weekday night this time. We were served by Kate and Dave who couldn't have been more helpful, polite and friendly. The menu(which was different from our previous visit) was of a good choice and reasonably priced but As we were tired (after a long journey) rather than hungry, we opted for a main course only, this was served promptly and up to the usual good standard. A minor criticism, why do we have to have pretentious rectangular plates (that were unstable on the table) and the chips in a separate bowl? Another minor criticism was the gentleman on the next table who was constantly blowing "smoke" from his "E-Cigarette" which was just annoying rather than anything else. Us smokers should be used to going outside for a smoke. That aside, this is one of the best "Vintage Inns" that we have been to and we will certainly be visiting again.
