You will need to book, generally busy. Food good and hot! Varied menu and caters for all. A bit pricey for pub food but worth the extra cost.

Haven't eaten here for a year or so but its walking distance and usually the food is very good even if a bit pricey. We went on Sunday evening, a party of 4, and it was not very busy even so it took 20 minutes to get a drink although the order was taken soon after we arrived. We had a starter and a main course and a dessert. Again a long wait for the starters and some problems with our choice as they had run out of camembert. Mains arrived and was well cooked and very tasty however the cauliflower cheese was actually cauliflower milk as they had not put any cheese on it. It was completely tasteless, we told the waitress and it was removed from the bill. No problems with desserts. Service was friendly and apart from the interesting cauliflower cheese the meal was excellent. Always a nice place to eat and I would recommend it. As I said not cheap but for quality it is worth the extra.

What a great place! Took dinner here whilst on holiday in the Chilterns so probably won't revisit but it was a great experience . The sea bass was wonderful , and good portion sizes. Very interesting menu and difficult to choose from! Lovely decor and ambience. Great service. Don't be put off by the crowded car park - plenty of room inside.

Made a last minute reservation to ensure that a table was available. Although quiet when we arrived the restaurant filled up quickly. The service on arrival was good and our drinks order was taken quickly. The food order was taken when the drinks arrived and the food appeared very quickly. We had haddock and chips and the haddock fish cake. Both were very good, albeit slightly expensive. We only had one desert - the lemon curd and almond sponge. Although very tasty, I was disappointed with its size.

The only problem with the otherwise good service was that one of the glasses had about a mouthful left when it was cleared away.
