“A Nice Place to Visit With the Kids”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

Just a short distance away from downtown Syracuse, this idyllic nature center offers trails, exhibits and even a boating experience. Once a year, they host the Golden Harvest Festival, with loads of entertainment and educational events that are a must-see. Bus service is provided from River Mall.

“wonderful outdoor setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

Lots of walking trails, minimal pay to park, they have tours and a great harvest festival in Sept. with shuttle buses to and from Baldwinsville parking lot. They also do a lot of school programs and get the kids involved.

“Something for Everyone!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

Beaver Lake Nature Center is an amazingly beautiful property that offers so much for so many. We do not live in NY, but whenever we are in the area, we make sure we have at least a half day to spend here. The trails are beautiful and well marked, the lake is amazing and the canoes and kayaks are great fun for families! All of the staff are friendly, warm and welcoming. They do their very best to accommodate the needs or requests of everyone who visits.

“I Was a Volunteer Naturalist Here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013

We moved away from the Central New York region 16 years ago. What we miss most is this place, and a couple we have known since college. I worked as a trail guide, during maple sugaring, and at the September Golden Harvest Festival. There are a number of interesting trails, the longest going three miles around the lake. We have skiied and snowshoed here--in face, my husband and I did a workshop over several weekends where we made wooden and rawhide snowshoes. The head naturalist told us that they have plans to reintroduce some long distance trips such as the Loon Quest in Canada. This is a place for year round activities and fun.

“Nice easy hiking in different settings”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2013

Offers 10 miles of well maintained loop trails of various lengths from .4 to 3.0 miles long. No significant elevation changes. Trails are maintained with good mulch base, great for low impact on knees for trail running. Nature Center is well stocked with accurate trail maps with good descriptions of trails and the store has a great guidebook for the area waterfalls "200 Waterfalls in Central & Western New York A Finder's Guide" by Rich & Sue Freeman.

Wonderful place for families of all ages.

$3 per car entry fee.
