We began our three week visit to Africa at Camp Okavango and couldn't have asked for a more wonderful experience! We loved the peaceful environment, the phenomenal staff, and the glimpse into the timeless magic of true Africa. Floating through the papyrus lined Delta waterways and hiking on some of the internal islands let us see many types of nonhabitualized wildlife and this is a difference between CO and many other truck based safari experiences. Food was good, we felt relaxed and pampered, and fell in love with everything about Camp Okavango. Exploring by day, tea and sundowners, dinner with the staff and other guests, sitting by the fire, and then sleeping in fresh air while listening to nature sounds....perfect!

We experienced two nights in this secluded camp, with no electric light at night and no phone coverage....a genuine paradise!
The camp is truly enchanting, silent, quite and relaxing.
The first morning we came across to Alex, a local big hippo, who enjoyed our deck, before entering the lagoon.
The staff is superb and friendly and our guides, Zakes and Ottie, made our walking safari an unforgettable experience.
The food, starting from the breakfast, inclusding bruch, big tea, and dinner are faboulos.
Recomended especially for guided nature walks!

Room tip: tent #8, perfet secluded accommodation for honeymooners

This was one of numerous lodges/tented camps we visited.....( and our favourite) ....an amazing experience with the location by numerous waterways. The tent accommodation was lovely and rustic with everything clean and authentic. The bathroom was quirky but a delight to use with every facility needed. This was the only venue we stayed at that did not have tea/ coffee making facilities in the tent / room and this was missed at 5.30am when we woke to prepare for the day.....a minor issue given the wonderful experience. The food was of excellent quality, plentiful and varied, served in a small restaurant by excellent staff who went out of their way to make our stay special. Obed was an exceptional guide as was John, a very special individual of wisdom. There are opportunities here for lots of walking so take good footwear. The grounds and pool area are situated on a green and spacious lawn. The view of the stars and Milky Way at night were outstanding with zero light pollution. Sundowner drinks at the end of the airstrip, after a 'punt' on the peaceful and still waterways, will be a memory we will treasure for a very long time. This venue is due for major refurbishment, to be completed we understand, by April 16. We hope the truly 'safari' atmosphere is not lost as we would return in a moment to repeat the experience.

Dear Westsussextraveller1
Many thanks for the great review of your time at Camp Okavango. The new Camp Okavango will open on 14 April 2016 following a full rebuild of the public areas and guest tents. Stunning public areas accessed by raised walkways will be linked with the new luxury suites boasting expansive views right across the Okavango Delta. The new Camp Okavango will consist of eleven guest suites and one family suite. The company has taken a good look at the layout of the existing camp and we recognise that for future years, ensuring a true and unique Okavango Delta experience can be achieved from within the camp as well as on activities. We do hope that you will return in the future, to experience the new Camp Okavango.
Kind Regards
The Desert and Delta Safaris Team

My family and I stayed in at Camp Okavango in August 2014. We landed at the personal airstrip and were greeted by the guides who welcomed us to their beautiful property. The camp is lush and the grounds are very well kept. Everyone made an effort to introduce themselves and make us feel welcome. The food was great, especially the Phet cakes! The boats on the delta were a nice reprieve from the game drives. We saw elephants, giraffe, monkeys, hippos, lots of birds, warthogs, and kudu. We went on a walk to buffalo island that was quite spectacular. Our guide, Zakes, was wonderful, as was Stagga! The choir is so beautiful and such a treat at the end of the day! Thanks Camp O!

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at this camp. We had a brilliant time, although it was not quite what we expected. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food was very good and had at least 2 choices at each meal time. Our guide was Aaron and he was very knowledgeable and did his utmost to meet our request with regard to game trips. We spotted elephants, hippos, giraffes, lions, many different types of antelope, warthogs, lot and lots of pretty birds.
