Our family stayed three wonderful nights at footsteps. We were blown away by the simplistic yet well put together camp. The entire trip was well organized with a very structured schedule. Our guide OP was magnificent! He was so professional, knowledgable and very protective of our safety- he possess rather king like presence there. Such respect given to the animals. At the camp, Changu, the camp manager kept the very well oiled machine running smoothly. The meals were so delicious considering the limited resources they had. The tents were very clean and we were treated like royalty. The game drives were amazing especially during sunset. The macoro and walk abouts were really special as well. The entire staff couldn't do enough for us. There is something very unique and special about this place that is difficult to put into words- well worth the money. I found myself very emotional leaving the wonderful staff and left feeling overwhelmed by the experience. Thank you for giving us the trip if a life time. This experience will come highly recommended by our family.

We were the only visitors and spent 3 nights at Footsteps. We had a tent w/o running water or electricy, yet it was pretty comfy (e.g. very clean, solar lights in the tent, comfortable bed, the toilet flushed and the bucket shower had enough water for both a body and hair wash) and we had a beautiful view of wetlands. At night hippos and an elephants walked by our tent and there were hyena and other animal prints near the dining table when we came for breakfast. Our chef made incredible meals using fire, a charcoal oven (homemade bread, scones, kudu pies) and fresh veges and fruits. The wait staff was very attentive. Loved the nature walks; didn't get this at the other camps. Our guide was impressive and we learned a lot about the game, ecosystem and people of Botswana. If you want a small safari experience in a beautiful, peaceful place it's Footsteps. BTW, Shindi moves the Footsteps camp every 2 years, keeping it close to nature environment.

Room Tip: There are only 3 tents; all have views.

Footsteps is not for everyone, but we really enjoyed our time here. It’s much smaller and therefore more personal than its sister camp, Shinde. It’s closer to a true camping experience, sleeping in a tent with no running water and no electricity. However, you’re not exactly roughing it – the beds are very comfortable and there is a flush toilet in your ensuite. You do feel much closer to nature. We had a hippo wandering through the camp one night and a hyena circling the camp on both nights. The food is very good quality, especially considering that it is prepared on an open fire. It was extremely therapeutic to be able to go for a good long walk after weeks of being confined to camps or vehicles and the guides were very good at their jobs.

This is a truly once in a life time opportunity to experience the Okavango Delta in a way that is inspiring. We had hippo and elephant right in our camp - the night spotlighting from our vehicle was something not to be missed - Hyenas running beside our vehicle - during the day lions mating - so much game to see. The food and attention to detail was excellent. This is Ker & Downey Botswana's best "close to nature" experience so if you are seeking an experience close to that of a Hemingway safari but with flushing toilets and without the shooting of guns then this is where you should be.

Loved this place. Even though we were there the penultimate week of their 'season', and they had been hosting relentlessly for weeks, all the staff were upbeat and enthusiastic. The guide was the best I've had on safari - I've been on enough to have a reasonably good view - and really enhanced my knowledge of the ecosystem. Even more impressively, he dealt with an extremely difficult couple on the same trip with patience and calmness.
The location is good, the food amazing given the limited facilities, the staff very friendly. The room was very clean and stylish in an old-school way. Facilities obviously aren't 5* as it's a mobile tented camp in style, but it is 5* in service.

Footsteps Camp is a small, simple tented camp by a lagoon. Behind it are a series of pans attracting a range of birds and game. It is situated amidst tall trees, offering shade in the heat of the day - and atmosphere for the dark African nights. This is a walking safari camp - and our adventures included watching elephant mating; male baboon eating baby impala; close ups of elephant, giraffe, and a host of small game. The birdlife was prolific. The sunsets and subsequent sundowners overlooking glinting water pans were magnificent. The camp staff were so attentive, friendly and warm it was hard to leave them after our four-night stay. Ker & Downey head guide Paul Molesang and his colleague OP looked after us ably supported by Changu, camp manager and her wonderful team. We were the only ones staying in the camp so had tents one and two. Supper was like a private dinner party. And we enjoyed regular nightly visits from the camp hyena and elephant - who regularly pop in to see what's going on. This camp is not the most luxurious. But it isn't about luxury. It's about soul and simplicity. If you want to touch Africa or Botswana in particular - rather than driving through it - visit Footsteps!

Room Tip: You've only got three tents in the camp to choose from - and they're all simple, practical a...

Footsteps Camp is the most amazing place, set in a heart stoppingly beautiful location with the most caring and attentive staff and informative guides this is the place to visit to really see the Delta. Exploring their private concession on foot, watching the wildlife and experiencing the thrill of being so close to the animals is something we will never forget.
The accomodation may be described as basic with no running water but the tents are really clean and comfortable (no creepy crawlies seen!) and the bush showers were great fun. Each tent has a flush loo "en suite" and washing hot water is provided all the time. You want for nothing!
Food was incredible and service and attention to detail was wonderful. We were there as part of a group of seven so had the whole camp to ourselves - perfect! We were there for Botswana's Independence Day celebrations which we were proud to watch in the camp and the special cake they baked for us all to share with all the staff was great! We were so sad to leave, and hope to return soon
